1 year old Etsy account with 100k+ in sales....Etsy asking for info...
 

Etsy is asking to confirm seller info. They are asking for a UTR number (This is for a UK etsy account) of the person I registered the account under.

For context the Etsy account is on my brother in laws name but the bank account is my company bank account and all the income will be declared when it comes to submitting my company accounts.

However, it seems Etsy wants the UTR number of my brother in law. If i provide them with that will he become liable for the tax instead of my company?

Does anyone have information on this or a way around it?

Perhaps due to the stricter HMRC regulations as of 2024.

They need utr to verify same as Amazon ask provide them

so account is 1 year old and has done 100k in a year?

In Us they are verifying the name of that SSN owner, Idk for UTR how it goes

Yes, it seems they sent an email about it and made an announcement about this requirement for Feb 2024. I missed both of those. I only realised when they put it on my shop dashboard with a countdown of 7 days.

I have applied for a UTR number now but it can take 10 working days. In the meantime my shop will have to go into holiday mode.

£100k in 1 year, yes.
2024 is on track to be at least double. (Provided i get past this hurdle)

ETSY ACCOUNT NAME in brother in law name,UTR in your name and bank account in your company name?

1. Etsy account has been changed to new company name. (Still has BIL as legal business owner)

2. UTR will be in new company name. Waiting for this to arrive.

3. Bank account is my company name, yes, but Etsy cannot see the name of the company the bank account belongs too. Or if they can it has not been an issue for the past year so hopefully it will not be going forward.
