Buyer said refund me first,then I will return the item
 

I have seen this situation years ago on Ebay,buyer will call instead of communicating via Ebay messaging and it is a scam
But now I am getting it on Etsy,buyer ordered 2 items,one was not the right item(my mistake) so I sent a return shipping label for return,she thanks me and said she will return the item using the label.
Now she open a case with Etsy saying she wants to be refunded first as it is not her fault ,she wants her refund before return.
Etsy sides with me and give her till 20th to return the item.
why does she change her mind?
She lost/sold the item?
She wants a freebie?

seems like changed her mind due to buyer's regret - it happens....sucks for a seller

Sounds like the **** I get every now and then. When the economy gets bad, buyers get scared from bad news on the tv, etc, they all of a sudden start asking for refunds and returns. It goes in a cult like this every week or so, then sales slowly come back. Weird but it's been this way since the covid crap happened

Competition buying from you to try to get a real person to do a manual on your account. Works sometime's ....but they keep doing it...if it's phakes then you know the rest.

Etsy is now giving her 5 more days to ship the item back.
It costs her nothing to send it back as I am giving her a return label,
She is still saying she wont return item unless she gets her refund and it is only $65.
I am beginning to suspect she has either lost the item or sold the item ?

Normally they just want a freebie as a punishment that you sent the wrong item, it’s a kind of entitlement that some buyers think they have.

I thought this kind of excuses have gone away?
Years ago,brick and mortar stores retailers will call and tell me something is wrong with the item,if he looked at it UPSIDE DOWN?
OR it is chipped but cant produce a picture,or the lid of teapot is stuck inside the teapot and she poured hot water over it trying to dislodge it?
Now I have someone who keeps ordering from me and asked me to ship to GRANDMA in a different state and eTSY wont let her change her address due to a platform problem.
Things are not well out there,people lost their jobs and not easy to find a new one

Human trashy behaviour will never go away.

Things like this will always happen.

Rarely happens in different cultures like Japan but always happens in USA.

Update,2 Etsy reps chimed in,asking her to return the item,extending the deadline to 25TH,still no return,so case closed and asked her to deal direct with me.
I dont know why someone as educated as she is ,she is very good with words,will refuse to return the item free,she threatened to seek other options if she loses.
So now,I am waiting to hear about credit card chargeback.

She might simply be worried she will get scammed as in she returns it and doesn't get refund. You and I know that won't happen but buyers dont always have this knowledge.

Over the years I've been accused of all sorts of nonsense from crazy paranoid buyers. My favourite was a buyer that threatened to report me to the FBI even after I offered to refund her in full without her having to return the item. WTF

They want you to offer her a partial refund or just let her keep the item,on EBAY sellers care a lot about their feedback,they will sometimes give yu a few dollars not to leave negative feedback.
Lawyers who sell on Ebay often try to intimidate you by saying he is going to sue you.
A woman lawyer once bot a piece of 14K goldplated jewelry,she said in the old days,14K gold plated are often solid 14K gold,so she is going to take me to court ??
