Per the recent earnings report,

"Adding an enhanced identity check to the shop set-up process: We’ll add a new method of identity check that asks new shop owners to upload a photo ID, like a driver’s license or passport, and take a selfie using their computer or phone."

I think this will be the new norm for all marketplaces within a few years. Maybe AI could counter this when tech increases, otherwise not sure how to stealth a selfie.

Fraud is rising on Etsy,
I just requested USPS to intercept a package to Doral,FLORIDA,the buyer has been removed by Etsy and it cancelled a new order she placed in my shop due to payment problem[

must be more than 10 years now.when it starts to allow antiques and used item,not just handmade

I remember this Doral Florida address from way back on Ebay,it has a long apt number?
now it cost 17.50 to ask for USPS to intercept and then return back to me USPS priority would be another fee.
I will google this address ,if it is the same scammer,then she could be on Ebay as well

The buyer has been kicked out of Etsy.
The Doral address she gave me is A & S shipping,commercial shipping company,the apt number she gave me is 226774,must be an account number.
Scam,scam,scam

I recall ten years ago there are more scams on Etsy from sellers -
they will sell gold coins copied from Ebay and never ship any or shipped some copper coins,and Etsy policy that you cant file any complaint early,so they get to use your money to pay bills.

It might sound like a silly statement but we don't know if we're able to reuse the same information like a selfie without getting banned. Yes you need an ID to open an account and the selfie would be there to match the ID. However a few years ago you were always able to make a new account with same SSN over and over again.

Is this different?

Maybe.

I have not made a new Etsy account recently.

If someone comes across this selfie verification in the future, it's best to write for the information of others, I wonder when they will start implementing it for real
