Bought an account off Duab on here a couple of years ago, just had this email

As part of our regular efforts to protect the Etsy marketplace, we periodically require sellers to verify your identity. This helps us create a better experience for buyers, so they keep coming back knowing Etsy is a trusted place to shop.

To simplify things for you, we’ve streamlined these new requirements into one easy process. You’ll need to verify the identity info you’ve shared with us.

You won’t get paid for your sales until you’ve verified your identity. After 3 days, if you haven’t verified your identity, we’ll put your shop on Holiday Mode. This means you won’t be able to receive new orders, and your listings won’t appear in search results on Etsy until you verify your identity. If you still don't finish the verification process after your shop is placed in Holiday Mode, we may have to permanently close your shop.

Here’s how to verify your identity:

1. On Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager.
2. Select Verify in the dashboard banner.
3. Follow the instructions to verify your info.

When I login it’s asking for ID and a selfie, I guess this account is now gone as it’s a stealth account?

I guess you can buy selfie ID online, but as I understand, it's hard to pas Etsy ID requests with faux docs

Over 1,000 sales, not suspended but asking for selfie ID and it’s holding my money until I provide it.

Random tax number added to the account as its a stealth account

With Etsy, can you add a real tax number and perhaps change the name?

May be worth a try if it allows you to.

They do ask for selfie verification when you open the account. The whole platform is so stringent it seems impossible to create a successful stealth account.

First, you need to confirm whether the account holder is a real person. Otherwise, the account will almost certainly be shut down. Nowadays, Etsy accounts created with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details have less than a 10% chance of surviving. If the profile belongs to a real person, then finding someone who can provide an AI video verification may help.

If you have a photo of the document, even if it is expired, we can try to restore the account. The main thing is to have a photo of the document.

On Etsy accounts registered under Ukrainian residents, this request for documents and selfie verification usually appears after reaching around $5,000 in turnover. It’s possible that the same happened in your case due to reaching a certain threshold.
