| milkmustachio | 09-28-2014 11:20 PM | ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. I am new here but have been an ETYSY seller for 3 years. Even quit my day job three years ago because I was tripling my income working from home. I recently have need suspended on ETSY for not getting orders out quicker.
I still adhere to the old etsy ways I hand make EVERYTHING myself, when I became ill I had 70 orders to fill, needless to say I fell behind quickly. I am not a scammer nor do I want to keep anyones money without sending them their items.
However with no income I can't reimburse anyone. I am in a pickle. So I guess my question is this is a stealth account legal, can I still claim it as earned income on my taxes ?
I really want to be back on ETSY so I can pay back some customers but I want to be completely legal. I am going to buy the e book but wanted to make sure its legal first. thank you |
RetroRedneck | 09-29-2014 02:58 AM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Judging by the success stories I've come across re Etsy, you'll be up and running.
In general, it's bad business practice spending money that should be kept aside for possible refunds. Also, if the orders were coming in thick and fast, then limit your stock availability (until your health improves). |
unkown5454 | 09-29-2014 03:39 AM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Stea.lth is not ill.egal. Taking money from customers and not sending products is though. That's called stealing and you seriously f*cked over 70 customers? That's ridiculous.
It does not matter where you sell, this would never be tolerated. I think you need to get your act together a bit before taking the responsibility of being a seller again. You won't find much help here with the way you operate. |
Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Welcome to the forums - 70 orders without fulfillment...falling behind...you need to step up your operations |
jeffweico | 09-29-2014 05:40 AM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Could you still get the 70 items out? If so, I would ask ETSY if they will allow that, even if they will not allow you to sell again. Then you could start fresh with stealth.
But if your items are extremely unique - like you were the only seller, or one of just a few sellers - then they may be able to link your new stealth account to the closed account that way.
I pay taxes on all of my stealth account profits. Stealth is not about tax evasion or defrauding anybody. It is just about getting back online selling after losing an account. In many cases, members here lost accounts for silly reasons. In your case, ETSY had a good reason for stopping the account. But just maybe, if you contact them and explain the situation, they might be forgiving???? I am not sure how realistic the forgiving part is, they may never want you to sell again on their site. But you could at least maybe make everything right. |
milkmustachio | 09-30-2014 09:48 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. I should have been more specific...... trouble started a few months ago when ETSY underwent more changes to their system, they changed their look , how items are searched for etc.... some people were affected by this, I was one of them. I was getting emails intended for other sellers. Other sellers were getting my emails. I even received feedback for something I don't make. This was straightened out after a week or so. Then again after another minor change my sales dropped, or so I thought. Turns out some sales were never dropped into my account $ or invoices. I didn't notice until many items were late and ETSY was checking on them, sales I didn't even know I have, and never been paid for. This is where I don't feel comfortable spending money out of my pocket to make and mail items I have yet to be paid for. 22 of the 70 I did make and mail because they were completed via Paypal but the rest were DC. I feel poorly for the customers though. Refund will have to be given from ETSy , I don't have their money to return . its a BIG mess now I went from 4000 plus sales great feedback to horrible HORRIBLE feedback. They only thing I can do is start a new store, BUT ETSY still wants me to fill the 48 orders or shut me down. They will find the money eventually and pay me, but I am still left with the feedback. Hope that cleared things up a bit.
On top of everything else I did get sick. Will be having surgery in a while so all of this will wait until 100% of my attention can be focused on work and I am hiring 2 part time ladies to help out. Just trying to get my game plan together. |
unkown5454 | 09-30-2014 09:58 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Then it must have only affected Direct Checkout because all I have ever used this year and last year was PP with absolutely no problems and no missing orders. |
milkmustachio | 09-30-2014 10:37 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. I think it was or is limited to DC , I went 3 years no problems.
Received message from ETSY looks like they are going to open my shop again , I will be putting it on vacation mode ! |
unkown5454 | 09-30-2014 11:10 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. Well, you must have a decent history then. For new sellers, they basically just ignore you. |

:shhh: | No there were no links it was the type of goods, now i only sell goods there that almost nobody else sells and it works :) |
milkmustachio | 10-08-2014 10:07 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. I do make all of my items by hand and by myself as ETSY was intended for :) I sell baby goods. There are a lot that sell similar , I came up with something a bit different , it didn't take long for others to catch on and copy my designs , but I am flattered by that. |
markcle | 03-04-2015 12:45 PM | Re: ETSY seller for 3 years then suspended.. mustachio- if you are wary of stealth you could get a DBA and sell under that account I think.Maybe someone more knowledgeable can comment ? | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:23 PM. | |
