How to do etsy stealth with the new SSN update?
 

Is there anyway to make an etsy shop without putting an ssn? They recently made it impossible to do it just with paypal. I checked the etsy forums and apparently they don't even accept EIN? Had an old etsy account a year ago, gave them by ssn, the shop was later banned. Pretty sure it would be stupid to use the same ssn. Any ideas?

Yes, it would be stupid to use the same SSN....embrace PayPal and move forward.

They stopped letting people get away with just paypal AFAIK by enforcing people to send their ID/ssn/ein/proof of etc etc.

So basically, you either give them an ID/SSN/EIN or can't open an etsy account?

Yup! My friend signed up for a store recently and never opened an etsy before. The sign up page asked for your SSN. He gave his EIN instead and two days later an automated email came in asking for his ID and proof of his address. I'm thinking that even if I made an EIN for etsy, they could link it back to my old account that was banned.

It's not that at all MM78. They now want everyone in the US to use Direct Checkout, which is a merchant account, and therefore requires verification of personal info. You cannot do stealth with a merchant account; that would be a crime in any case.

:doh: so basically you CAN open an Etsy but you have to use PayPal IF you already burned an SSN? Is that what were saying here?

NO, new signups can no longer use standalone paypal to get payment. And they require all newly openned shops to use direct check-out => unless you use family's SNN, etsy stealth is IMPOSSIBLE. They just ask me to verify my identity. EIN does not work anymore.

If we used family's social, would they be able to link a previous address from them to a previous address you used on your now banned account?

How much are they looking into when they verify your identity?

I have a prepaid card with a routing number and account number in my sisters name who has decided to go into business with me. The address on the prepaid card matches the billing address on etsy.

I want to sign up for direct checkout with her name, social, birthday, routing and account number. My worry is that when they go to check everything, old addresses will pull up and it will be flagged with an address I used on etsy before.

Do they even check that kind of thing? Or JUST CHECK to make sure your info on the bank/routing and account number... match the information you provided when signing up for direct checkout?

From what im finding out is we need a VBA thats about it. I cant seem to find anyone that sells VBAs that provide

Bank name *
Account owner's name *
Institution number *
Transit number *
Account number *

If anyone knows please do tell

Payoneer, can we use in the US?
PTShamrock, is this a scam, I know it's expensive, but they claim no info required? Any one use or know about this one?

All i need now is to show a Canada passport or ID and they will approve my account, If anyone knows how to do that please share, and i will share my method on how i made the esty stealth sellers account

you cant have a payoneer account if you live in america.. and what are you trying to achieve with that account? All you need to do is buy a 8$ VBA to pass the bank portion for etsy.

I'm so sorry to ask a possible repeated question, but where do I find....

1. A $8 VBA for US? Will Et.sy get my personal info from the VBA? Seems you need your personal info including SSN for VBAs?

2. I'm just trying to get back on et.sy for the sales and traffic, have my own site, but traffic is nothing compared to et.sy. Then start to slow redirect my traffic to my site. Sell kids shirts/tutus....so it's handmade.

You do not know HOW much your help and sharing of info is to me. Many, many thanks!!

:doh: LOL, Calm down......Your asking the wrong person.....I don't sell on etsy or care to sell on etsy.....I've made etsy stealth accounts before but I'm not the one asking about banks....

Hi there, I see that you are an experienced member here and I would value any input you have! You said that you have made stealth accts on et.sy, but have you recently on et.sy after the change in Dec 15? If so, is there some secret, I don't know? I'm following the "bible" to the T but my name on the et.sy acct can not be different than the VBA, because it WILL get kicked back right away! Already tried this route. Didn't work. Also tried a new EIN number and after a few days they asked for my DL and proof of address by public utility bill! I tried sending them a proofed "for et.sy lonely" over the license, they asked me to remove it and resend it.

I am open to any suggestions.

No kidding. I tried selling my items on ebay legit, but there is really no traffice for tees and tutus on ebay.

As a newbie to this site, I've done all my homework (100+ hours) reading nearly every thread, and STILL there are there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Et.sy! I'm so bummed. I just wish I was as smart as most of these people.

Usually VBA's don't have Names registered but maybe there might be something that can work.

@gamble me too! Wish I was as smart as most are here..believe me.I would do anything to get back on...reading everyday to try to find a way! In sure there is a way but we will gave to wait and see.

Yeah, given their new numbers and lower than expected new seller rate they'll cut this stupidity out soon. Even putting stealth purposes aside, the average person isn't going to give them all the info they want just to sell a few handmade items. Paypal doesn't even require all they ask for the average joe seller they target. Not sure why they thought this was a way to drive bigger numbers.

Right on! I do hope they drop the DC thing too, would be much easier and cheaper to get back on. But I doubt they would change it back

Now on EU based et.sy stores, they are asking for a EIN. Does anyone have a clue how to avoid this?

I've been suspended before, never used EIN though, but do they have any way of linking my address with EIN? Do they have feedback from IRS, for example?

This is a new feature they have implemented for EU based stores.

I haven't inserted it yet, but I will have to sooner or later :(
