| Vicvelcro | 05-11-2009 02:19 AM | Somehow the reader will output some kind of signal to the main control board. It may be a solid DC voltage, it may be an analog signal, or a digital signal. If you trace the reader output to the control board, you may see a relay which triggers the regular manual controls for the machine. You may see a microprocessor. This will vary from unit to unit, so I can't be any more specific in this instance.
If you see a relay, bypass it or trigger it by any obvious method. If you see a microprocessor, you can research the data-sheet for the device and possibly determine which pins to jumper. For a microprocessor, just search the number in google along with "data sheet" - lm555 datasheet - for instance.
Or, you could try to HERF the reader through the slot. EMP is a fun thing. There are schematics for devices smaller than an iPod nano which can be used at very-near proximity.
