Memorial Day

Did you know that Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009)? Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

This is a very important holiday. Unfortunately, many Americans do not even understand the the history behind Memorial Day. Every American should take moment and reflect on the freedoms they enjoy due to the heroic and selfless actions of our forefathers. Hundreds of thousands of brave men and woman sacrificed their lives so we could be free.

I fully understand that this is an international forum. So, I want to take my hat off to those brave men and women who also died in service of the English, French, Australian, and so many more free countries.

Take a moment and say a word of thanks and definitely enjoy the day!

Yozalo, I think you completely missed the point of this post. Makes you wonder about the gratefulness of our society today. Pretty damn sad!

Lol, I'm not American. I am Canadian. We don't have memorial day.

Making contact with paypal more important than taking a moment to think of those who made the supreme sacrifice for us to be able to have paypal? Oh, the irony:juggle:

Yozalo, I know you are not an American. Hence, why I added other countries. GreenBean is right on here. The English, Australians, Americans, and more died in the millions to keep even your country from speaking German and Japanese. I cannot even imagine what the English and other European countries went through on a daily basis 70 years ago to keep the entire world free. I, as well as my daughter, are forever in their debt. They gave their lives so that I can be free.

Today, everyone, should take a moment and reflect and the sacrifices of all the troops in the world from all the free countries who have died to allow us to sell on Ebay.
