I know that this is not something usually posted on Aspkin, but it really is a heartbreaking story, and any help for this family would be appreciated.
The mother has recently undergone tests for a kidney condition, her and her partner are due to go to the local hospital tomorrow for the results, they have both been asked to attend. They do not have medical aid.
They live in a run down building, that used to be a trading store, 6 km outside of East London in South Africa. The building has had it's water supply cut off, so one of the adults walk a distance to get water every day. There is no electricity. They also have to gather wood in order to make a fire to cook something to eat.
They are a mixed race family, with 3 children, aged 8, 6 and 4 years.
The father is a hardworking 50 year old, who under the current economic circumstances in the country is only able to obtain work earning R150 a day,
which equates to 11 USD. 9 Euro, or 8 GBP. The work is not permanent, only as and when he can get it.
Both the mother and father, make candles, which they then walk 6 km to go and try to sell outside a grocery store in a shopping complex.
We, as a family have been helping where we can, but ultimately we would like to be able to pay for 6 months accomodation, in a decent flat/apartment, with running water and electricity.
Please people, I am not a person who asks anything of anybody, I am just trying to help out a really desperate family.
