1.) Not much free stuff available that's worthwhile In my area

2.) Dollar store items are not profitable enough unless you buy 100s to 1000s and have the clerks wondering what in the world your problem is

3.) Not much garage sales, unless you travel to surrounding towns, and then you'd have to know what is profitable vs what is not

I usually leave an hour before the sales even start to travel 60 miles for where I like to start. When my day ends I have usually gone to sales in 4+ different cities and usually average more than a 100 different garage/yard sales.

Sometime you get lucky and run into community sales where there is 30-40 sales in the same housing track.

That's where experience comes into play, you will learn quick. It took me less than a year to really build up a knowledge base that I easily memorized.

But in the meantime, just go out and have fun. Not doing it, you are just putting yourself further behind.

I can almost guarantee if you just go out 4 Saturdays in a row with no experience, list what you find on eBay, you will profit a $1000. your 1st month.

Then every month after that you will will make more and more as you learn.

Same goes for a lot of the FB groups. The main issue is that a lot of the stuff that is free is trash.

There are some real gems there though if you put the time and effort in you can actually make a decent income from it. Goes against the principle a little mind you!

Didn't Gary Vee just piggyback on his father's success and now goes around to conferences and talks talking about how he's so incredibly busy (going to so many conferences and talks)?

"I won because I outworked you." ..... yea okay, did you though...?

Don't get me wrong, some of the stuff he says makes sense, but I've never seen him once operating a fork lift, unloading a truck or packing wine....

Most of these guys pretend they've started from the bottom, but received millions from parents/grandparents giving them a headstart, then run with it.

Within a 30mile radius there are only raggedy couches, and wooden chairs for "free". Not worth the drive/gas, so no thanks. You guys give poor advice without thoroughly examining the situation at hand.

You're next to a massive city and eBs is presumably in the country. Big difference. Out in the middle of nowhere I've seen an entire single wide trailer being given away on CL for free to anyone interested in restoring it. Almost every day there are listings for free firewood which is highly profitable this time of year if you're willing to work.

Think outside the box. Or move away from the city. :lol:

Yea, I know... I had a lot of respect for Linus from Linus Tech Tips if you know him on youtube. I thought he had built his entire business from scratch.

Then he had a video testing wireless internet connections using satellites and his staff a couple km away.

One thing he said was "okay, so we're on the top of my parent's building..."

Next scene is the staff panning out from the outskirts and it's literally the tallest building in the middle of the entire city.

I just went OH, so THAT'S how you're paying 15+ employees and have your own building with your name on it. It wasn't youtube revenue and product plugging after all.

Why don't these guys just say no to the money and start from the bottom so they don't go through life acting like they have to prove something. Would be hard to say no, but would probably feel a lot better making it yourself.

Incorrect I'm possibly hrs away due to major traffic. It isn't worth the stress, and who would drive 50+ min for a raggedy chair and couch.
