Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

kind of jealous...........

hearing how 19-22 year olds are making millions of dollars on sim swap fraud..........with 5 minutes worth of work.......lots of kids in beverly hills....

only a handful got caught........many others made off with millions.......

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

He was smart enough to pull off the hack, but not smart enough to use a bitcoin tumbler....hope he doesn't drop the soap in jail.

I bet the feds looked at a lot of more than just the bitcoin addresses...

Pretty damn sure he ****ed up in other area's as well.....but if he had been smarter that money in bitcoin can be hidden. Several people who were running darkweb sites made off with Millions in "Exit Scams".

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

I am immune to the sim swap fraud by accident......I don't even have a phone line open. so no sim card to begin with...

my crypto account is attached in a special 2-fa way........

Dumb way to handle the BTC though kid.

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

I think the method was target all the people who they suspect have a lot of money in cryptocurrency by making certain assumptions.....such as they are a ceo at crypto company or they attended a crypto conference......

they SE their info on the internet like their email and phone number......

then search what provider that phone number is from......

get a sim card from ebay with a burner.....

then call the mobile provider and attempt to swap sims......

then change everything and withdraw all the money and bypass 2-fa......

phaz0rz 12-14-2018 08:20 AM

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

Theoretically though you would still need login info for whatever wallets are on the phone, right?

I'm guessing that's why he wasn't successful the other times he tried. Being able to pass 2FA is useless unless the username/pw are stored somewhere.

Regardless though I can see this leading to tightened security with phone companies/porting numbers.

I think when emotions run high when they see 1 million like that they get excited and start panicking and do whatever it takes to get the money out......they don't think about the consequences.......

Yeah, you're right. The dude got excited and his lack of experience with money laundering became obvious lol.

I definitely need to step my game up...these younger guys beneath me are so into technology more so than me........

they have shown me up on so many avenues......youtube channels making millions.....now through crypto........

they make it look like I live in some sort of cave in the stone age with video casette tapes.....

Stealing money.. where's the sense of self-satiafaction for working hard for what you've accomplished!

H4ck 12-14-2018 09:18 AM

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

for me....self satisfaction is really hard to obtain.........it would take a good billion or so for me to be satisfied........

in order to be successful in life.

you have to first be extremely greedy.....and never be content and settle........if you want the best of what life has to offer.......and you will do anything to get it.....then you will take action........

its the ones that are content with their circumstances.......that settle and slack....

Making money legitimately vs illegal cons with possible jail time....i'd rather not have to keep looking behind my back while money comes in

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

If nick did this in his house, with a burner and left the phone on....the feds can use a phone tracking device called stingray and ping the phone and find out the coordinates of the cell phone tower in that vicinity.......but the bitcoin addresses probably gave it away.......he did not practice very high level of OPSEC..........

I know how to completely evade feds if the situation was like that.....

If I did something like that,

Would be......go buy a sim card at walmart with sunglasses and a hat and drive a moped or motorcycle parked by the nearest residential neighborhood with no cameras.

then get my separate laptop - VMware - use hotspot in the middle of a very deserted area.......

only turn on the phone in the deserted area. turn it off in the same area.

then move the money to BTC then have it go to the phone or computer then move all it to zcash.........monero is not as strong as zcash. then save all the private keys on a usb thumb drive, then throw away the phone and laptop and any other identifiable clothing or transportation.

so the only thing the feds have is a btc address on a burner ip address, phone coordinates in the middle of no where, and a picture of a person walking around walmart with a disguise on with a sim card paid in cash.

any flaws in my thinking?

the feds will check every camera down the street around walmart and at walmart.

then check for the data packets routing through the ip addresses and hack through the vpn and the proxy chain...that should lead to nothing at the end once they break through the entire line of security.

all of this is complete wishful thinking..........my cloud 9 type of imagination................

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

what is sad about nick is that he was working alone, if he was affiliated with the mafia they would set all of this up in a way the fbi can't do crap.

even the fbi claims that these crazy losses and cases are similar to mafia cases they dealt with in the old days........

If he were more mature period he would have thought out his scheme better and probably wouldn't have been busted. Live and learn.

You plan sounds rock solid until you convert to "privacy" coins most probably controlled by the NSA. I'd honestly feel better tumbling BTC, hiding it, and slowly spending all of it on DNMs.

H4ck 12-17-2018 08:39 AM

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

I am just a bit skeptical of bitcoin tumblers.......I heard they scam

phaz0rz 12-17-2018 08:45 AM

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

I'm 95% certain all the popular tumblers are also controlled by feds at this point (lots of talk on dark net forums about that)... but.... weighing your options...... I'd feel safer that way lol.

Deposit to dream over the course of a few weeks and use their built in tumbler to withdraw to multiple hardware wallets. I unno. :noidea:

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

I have not heard of any arrests made and how feds tracked someone when they moved their money to zcash and they were able to figure it out....so I would trust just moving it directly to zcash........

some people dont trust the wickr app for encrypted communication but the feds don't have a backdoor.....into that app......and no cases I heard where wickr was involved....

the only reason why alexandre cazes got caught with all his btc monero and zcash was because they raided his house in thailand and found his laptop open with all his wallets open right there........lol

Re: Nicholas Truglia sim swap fraud arrested

Dude, personal level encryption is a myth. How can we really feel safe using encryption protocols designed by intelligence agencies? Of course they have backdoors. They have backdoors into everything.

If they started making bookoo arrests of everyone involved with commerce on the darknet, they would show their entire hand, which is a bad strategy becuase it would implicate the government in all kinds of shady sh!t. It would also show the American public just how much of their personal info, data, conversations, records, etc are collected and stored by the US government.. and when that happens there's always a big uproar. (remember the outcry about the NSA a few years ago?)

Rest assured they're monitoring everything that goes on with crypto and the dark net in general. They'd be stupid not to keep a close eye on it.

with that type of thinking you would never get any type of work done......were dealing with people who have 10s of thousands of cases to work on........if one does not pan out they just move onto the next......

LOL. I still get my work done, I just try to stay conscious of the fact that big brother is without a doubt always watching. NSA's upstream data collection + their ability to bypass any modern encryption guarantees they see everything we do. Their goal isn't to make arrests and lock people up. Their goal is to monitor/control so they can keep tabs on the worst of the worst.

I have read a lot of fbi indictment documents.......people who posted very terrorist type of threats and the fbi couldn't id who was behind it.

your giving them too much credit.

Nah, I really don't think I am. Think CIA/NSA (not FBI) since those are the types of agencies that operate outside of the US constitution.

Like I said this morning they won't use all the tools in their arsenal especially within the USA. Doing show would show the public what they are capable of, and how unconstitutional a lot of what they do is.

The NSA's upstream data collection program was exposed years ago and is pretty well-documented now. They save every bit of data that is ever transmitted on the internet, and you can't encrypt strong enough to beat them.

This old quote comes to mind every time I get to talking about this kind of thing...
