Need an AT&T replacement phone
 

Not me, but a friend lost his phone and doesn't have the money to buy a replacement from AT&T.

I told him I'd find him one on ebay.

The question is if I get him one that is unlocked and he brings it into an AT&T kiosk can they set it up for him without his missing sim card? Should the new phone have a sim card?

I have bought phones for myself on ebay, but my carrier uses the same network as Alltel and Verizon and those phones don't use sim cards so as long as the phone wasn't locked they programed my number in and away I went.

So, what do I need to know to help him get a phone?

BTW, even though he has no phone and can't utilize his service he is still paying his bill every month

The last time I used an old phone for a new service I was given a new sim card.

But sometimes they can use the old card.

It's probably best to call AT&T to find out what they'll do.

I was just going to email him (can't call him LOL) and have him contact AT&T to find out.
Although everytime he goes in there to complain about something his usually walks out signed up for a higher service plan and tied down for 2 more years...LMAO
