Items held in Germany (PLEASE HELP)
 

Hello,

We ordered phones which were coming from Hong Kong. There were 2 boxes. I had 2 orders in Hong Kong. One was for phones and the other one was for accessories.

My supplier made a mistake where he accidentally attached the accessories invoice with the phones and the phones invoice with the accessories. The accessories invoice was worth only around $450 while the phone invoice was around $15,000. This is a huge difference.

When I tracked the goods, It said that the items are on hold and I should call DHL. When I called DHL, they told me to ask my supplier for a refund as they said nothing can be done. When I talked to the supplier, he couldn't help me as the items are not insured. We explained everything to DHL and told them about the misplacement of invoices but they could't help.

The Germany LEIPZIG customs now have the phones package on hold due to the invoice only being worth around $450. I do not have the Germany LEIPZIG customs number so I don't know what do to.

Please advice me on what I can do.

where is the other shipment?
if they are both in customs,then DHL should explain to them the invoices were switched.

Is the German customs office going to re assess the content of the shipment and make you pay more ?
then what would they do with the other shipment which said 15k when it is only worth 450?
you did nothing wrong,it is a mistake by your vendor

Get in touch with them and explain what happend. They don't want to punish you or something, all what they want is their cut and they thought you were trying to undercut them.


Where was your shipment heading that it had to pass through Leipzig?

why not just tell the German customs it is a mistake and pay the correct customs duty?
and what about the phone accessories package?which is worth 450 and declared 15k?

He could have received the shipment which is worth $15k and declared $450 and paid little $$,and now he does not want to pay mucho $$ for the second shipment worth $450 and declared $15k.
DHL is not going to co-operate with him and German customs could look up its records and found the first shipment.
If this is US customs,he could just refuse to pick up the package and it will be returned to the HK vendor and resent with proper declaration.
It could take month(s) ,if he cant sell his phones without the accessories,then he could just place a new order with HK vendor,cost is $450 plus shipping and customs duty
