| | | | | agent006140 | 09-29-2019 09:00 AM | I am seeing more beggars now on the streets,saw several on my way to shopping,and one outside a grocery store,he said he lost his job 5 months ago.
Who is that guy who committed suicide, the guy who worked as aide to the president in the
White House on jobs opportunity? He said there is nothing more painful for a man who is unemployed and cant find a job?
You should see how much food is wasted in an all you can eat buffet places,in Las Vegas, diners will take one bite, then go for something else, the cakes are not even fully baked,Harrah Casino, their food taste like they have been treated with chemical?or preservative?
Have you been to India?
Someone I know went to India to attend a friend's wedding,he said he has never seen such poverty and he would never want to go to India again.
There was a time I like to watch Indian movies,Bollywood makes more movies than Hollywood,I saw one where people will rent a bed in the cemetery, and keep their belongings there.
India is the most interesting country to visit,if you can survive the water and the polution and the crime?
A guy in his late 60s with a leg problem went with his girlfriend in same age group, came back in 2 urns, one for his son and one for his daughter!
some local buffet places just recycle them in soup or cut the meat up and stirfry with veggies.
your wife must be a good cook,$340 a month with 2 small kids,do they drink a lot of milk and OJ?
A good size chuck roast would cost you $10-$12,plus veggies and potatos and bread would cost $15 .
there is no way a family of 4 can make it on $350 a month.unless you folks eat out a lot or know where to chowdown free.
My parents used to have friends,a couple who lived closedby and would show up a little before 7 pm and chowdown 4-5 times a week, never bring a bottle of wine,a cake or appetizer?
well, the canned veggies and mashed potatos answered my question.
Fresh veggies and fruit can end up costing more than meat like chicken.
Green beans can be 99 cent-2.29 a lb,I avoid fresh tomatos as they are expensive, corn on the cob is good and cheap now, cabbage used to be 29 cents a lb and now they want 59 cents and they are heavy, spinach, parsley, brocoli, asparagus can all cost more than meat.
I also use ginger, mushroom, jalapena pepper in my cooking, and lets not forget avocado, its price can vary
so where do you folks get your vitamins like A and C?
If you have children, starting a veggie garden can be fun and educational, some are easy to grow like cucumbers, zuchini and okra and pepper, tomatos I have problem with.
My cantaloupe is not sweet enough, but at least I manage to grow one.
Make your children water the garden daily and watch it grow.It does not take up much room and efforts Quote:

That said, I used to live in a smaller town growing up and my next door neighbor used to have roosters and hens prowling around his yard. One of the other neighbors on the other side of his complained to the city, and they told him to get rid of them. City ordinance prevent having livestock or non-domestic animals in your yard. That's the case in many places. It's OK until someone complains. | I live in a subdivision,we are allowed 2 pets only, goats are not pets, but some said muslims raise goats in their backyard?
I have just a small strip of land which I fertilised and thats enough to grow some veggies,it is only 2 feet wide and 12 feet long ,rest of my backyard is cement patio and bushes, you dont need much land if you are a hobby grower, you dont need that much room to grow green onion, pepper, cucumber, zuchini, okra.
as for tomato plants, you can buy those which hang upside down in a pot.
It makes a good project for children
as for the MExicans who keep their rabbits in small patio in their apt,no one has reported them ,I suspect they eat them.
Where I grew up,folks live in garage and they raised chickens and let it run around in the street and sell them as free range chicken during holiday.
pHAZ explained in a previous post where he bought his meat -WMT and they eat canned veggies and mashed potatos.
No mention of fresh veggies and fresh fruits,so something is definitely missing !
t's why I was baffled a few months ago when you posted a link to Schwans and their chicken breasts were 10x more for the same meat. If I were to use the grocery suppliers you use agent, then I would agree, $350 a month would be completely impossible for a family of 4. But if you know how to shop smart at Walmart, it's not hard at all. I'm still a pretty cheap person from back when I didn't have two pennies to rub together, so I guess it comes naturally to me.

Swan was offering 50% discount and free shipping,so I gave it a try.
But their fish filet is no different than the Kroger ones, all come from China.
But the chicken is cooked, not raw,I dont remember how they prepare it,may be it is chicken parmesian,it has a website.
Not raw chicken.
But that was just one time event.
I dont shop at WMT,I shopped there once and their fresh produce is not that great, also HEB has better price and selection, they are a Texan company and bring in local produce.
Last week I was at TGT,I am impressed by their store, they have grocery but limited fresh meat and produce,if y ou are single and hate to cook,TGT is for you. |
| nickopedia | 09-29-2019 09:05 AM | Re: what is your average food bill a month? H4ck & Agent sure as hell keep topics on this forum lively.
As much I don't always agree with them, I do respect their points of view. It helps to be opened minded on things, especially these days.
I've learned a great deal from folks that I don't agree with, especially when it comes to: Gun Control, Abortion, Religion, Animal Rights, Vaccines, Privacy Rights, Capitalism, Climate Change, etc.
As far as food is concerned, there are always ways to conserve. My wife is Filipino and knows not to waste food. I've traveled throughout SE Asia and seen the truly poor. Trust me, the homeless on Skid Row in Los Angeles have it really good compared to the squalid, disgusting, and deplorable conditions in the squatters area in cities like Manila, Bangkok, or Phnom Penh.
Sure, the US probably needs to try and do more for the homeless, but is that truly a means to an end? Is society obligated to help those in need, or should we turn to H4ck's suggestion and help put them out of their misery? |

The RIO, Caesars, Bellagio, Aria, Luxor, etc. alone each produce several million pounds of perfectly good food a month in waste. Where does it all go?
Much of it ends up given to PIGS as food. This article tells more: https://www.pressherald.com/2019/04/...ut-food-waste/
Some of it might go to the food banks/homeless shelters, but not all of it. There are very strict laws governing food waste and even food that is perfectly good to eat might not be legally given away in some cases. |

also I can see why you troll the suicidewatch thread....$340 dollars a month for 2 people and children honestly I don't think your mental capacity is functioning at 100% their is no way you can live off that and get full nutritional benefits on a daily basis for a 4 person household......
malnourishment leads to mental retardation...
I can see the mental retardation kick in with a lot of the forum members....they forgot a key piece of information.....I have a lot of connections and resources to get a lot of food for very very cheap........fresh all restaurant quality...
atleast I know that my method is working of me not sharing too much valuable information on my methods of making money......
people who call me a bullsh1tter that is code word for.....in my own life I have never seen that type of money or spent that type of money so I call bullsh1t....
that means nobody on the forum has caught on to my money making schemes lol.... because apparently all you are at the bottom of the mountain right now....
I mean a good indication is checking the height and weight of the family...and measuring the normal range for body mass index whether your underweight, normal, or overweight
On the scale, I am closer to the overweight category considering my height and my food budget of $1000 bucks a month minimum
but when I was straight up broke in my college days $200 a month....I was hovering closer to underweight....
so as long as your entire family is in the normal range for body mass index...I would say that your budget would be considered reasonable for the family...
if your kids are underperforming in school, and they are constantly getting sick and the body mass index shows that they are clearly underweight and not getting proper nutrition then that means you need to change the budget to fix the problems.... |

You must be a very weak, and poor specimen of the human race. I'm 6'5", and at around 250 lbs, I went MONTHS eating only 1000-1500 calories a day, while exercising 3 times a day. Endless energy, and the mental acuity of a tack!

Who is watching? | Exactly. In fact, the fast food places are probably cleaner no only because there cameras in the food prep/kitchen area, but more supervision and controls you won't find at those "high class" places.
The big chains (McD's/BK/Wandys/Tacobell/etc) take cleanliness far more seriously, but not for the reasons you think. They are just one bad social media scandal away from losing tens of millions of $ in bad press or potential lawsuits. |

20-25% goes to tips.
and dont forget tax.
Uber eat ,DoorDash of the world is not going to put restaurants out of business, people prefer to eat in a restaurant not just for the food but the whole experience-the decor, the service and the presentation and the silverware and the company around you which you dont have if you eat the same food delivered at your desk or in the kitchen or in front of TV set in a styrofoam box,or even if you transfer it to your own chinaware.
(I remember how my mother rejoice when someone suggested-lets eat out to night !'
Once she stayed with my brother in San Fran, when she heard I am coming to visit them, she asked me if I were goin to stay in a hotel (which I have no intention to do so),when I said no,she said OH GOOD,WE CAN THEN USE THE MONEY TO EAT OUT !!!!!!!
