Re: Lyft,uber,and more
I am a registered driver with Lyft.
They only require a background check and that your own car is newer. This is typically 2015 or newer, or 2010 or newer depending on the model and the market you will be driving in.
If you don't have your own car to drive that's suitable, you can rent one through one of their partners.
Don't expect to make a lot of money driving, unless you can expect to put in at least 40-60 hours per week in a big like NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, or Vegas. After your account for expenses (like gas/maintenance/food/insurance) your "take home" net pay will be maybe half of your gross. Very often I would only make less than $20 /hr, and that's not even taking into account taxes.
I did it a few times in the Bay Area (CA) and decided it wasn't worth it. Gas in some parts of San Fran is close to $5 /gal now and my time is worth more than that.
