PayPal cuts off Pornhub

This is nothing new. PayPal has long been known to not be porn friendly at all.

Statement from PayPal:
"Following a review, we have discovered that PornHub has made certain business payments through PayPal without seeking our permission. We have taken action to stop these transactions from occurring,"

That's interesting that pornhub was allowed hundreds of thousands of transactions before the account was "reviewed"

Meanwhile, you could get clamped for listing Jan Hendrik Oort's biography for $60 on a new account.

I'm surprised PayPal was allowed in the first place.. PayPal doesn't like anything controversial.

Did you mean to say pornhub?

Well, now they probably have millions to hold for 180 days.

Re: PayPal cuts off Pornhub

A longtime client of mine in California had his whole operation shut down once when PayPal discovered he was making payments for adult affiliate sites. They didn't like it and shut down at least 4 or 5 of his business accounts. He ended up having to take them to court in Santa Clara Country where they are based. It was a messy and costly legal fight, but in the end he did get his money back.

The one thing I have learned over the years is PayPal normally doesn't like anything controversial; adult, prescription drugs, marijuana, currency exchange, or any type of websites that get lots of complaints, even if just in regard to it's contents.

Sounds like we have a real private investigator in the forums. But seriously no processor or bank for that matter is a fan of any of those things.

True that - or just accept money for a while then ban the accounts

I was actually in the web hosting business for several years. Often clients of ours would have run ins with PayPal due to the type of sites they would be running. Mind you, it wasn't solely based on their transaction activity, but the business they were in.

It's interesting that a site the size of Pornhub was even using PP to pay their talent in the first place. Why not plain old bank transfer? Although traditional banks are not really fans of p0rn, they don't care who you pay or what it's for so long as it's lawful.

Paypal encourages small businesses to use them for payroll processing,to save money of course.
But some of the recipients have complained,as they are sent as payment for goods and services and they end up paying Paypal fee which comes to 30 cents plus 2.9-4.4%.
Since when do we pay fee for our paycheck?
Intl bank transfer can be expensive, the employer has to pick up the wire transfer fee and he cant use his credit cards!
