I dont know much about guns and bullets,but I have a question for those who know-
What kind of rifle do you need to shoot a target 200-300 feet away from a moving vehicle?

my neighbor told me he heard guns fired 3 days in a row,midnight(11.45 pm),early morning(4.45 am) ,during the day.
I heard the same at 11.45 pm last friday,it was 2 rounds,and it was so clear and close as if someone is making noises right outside your house.
We have a huge receiving pond behind us,size of several football fields,after heavy rainfall,water will build up and we see egrets,ducks,once the water recedes,there is just grass! .
if someone is shooting from a moving vehicle,it has to be on the other side of the receiving pond and the distance between our backyard and the street would be a few hundred feet.
Why would anyone driving by shooting into an empty receiving pond,there is nothing there and we have heard nothing in the news of any gangwar or casualty?
My neighbor is now worried it could go thru the bedroom window and kill someone??

Agent, I am planning on wintering in South Texas again. I think we like South Padre better. Last year we stayed in Aranasas Pass near Corpus. Maybe we can meet up for coffee sometime?

sounds like a good idea,I always want to go to Padre Island,I hope it is better than Galveston,the beach is very small and the shops sell mundane stuff and what an insult,seafood is frozen from Central America.

We did not like Galveston at all. Water was very dirty and lots of refineries. We LOVED south Padre and Aransas Pass was ok. South Padre has an exotic feel. It is almost like you are in another country.

We are thinking February-mid May.

My neighbor is now paranoid,he knows more than I do ,his wife downloaded an app and been searching for news!
We do have small animals,like rabbits,snakes,squirrels,sometimes stray dogs,after 2008 financial tsunami,we see some large expensive breed roaming the streets,the owners cant afford to keep them.
I know some areas have wolves,but not in this area,no large animals.

Feb -mid May is a good time ,let me know.
Some folks retired to Galveston,you can walk around and feel the ocean breeze,the only problem is hurricanes.
