eBay Suspended & PayPal Limited Forums - anyone following the GME saga?

What I'm curious about at this point : Wasn't Friday the day the hedge funds' short position was supposed to expire? All last week I was hearing that on Friday the hedge funds would be forced to buy all these shares back from retail investors at the current market price.. which is why the price skyrocketed in the first place.

Now that Friday has come and gone... what comes next?

That was just one of those things that was never true shorts don’t expire they just have to pay the interest rate on the shorts that they have so long as they pay the interest rate and any margin calls then it can stay open indefinitely. As the price increases the short interest will also increase
