How does Canadian get a cheap US phone number to receive US verification code?
 

I am located in Canada but has a USA based bank account.
The USA bank always want to send a code to my Canadian cell phone.
However the canadian phone number can only receive the verification code after I request many times ( like 7-10 times).

Is there a cheap way for me in Canada to get a long term USA phone number which allows the bank verification code to go through?

Banks are like facebook. They only send the code to a real number so a free one doesn't work.

If you live close to the US border, or if you visit the US, you can simply purchase a cheap phone from Walmart or similar type store and add a 30 day calling plan, all for about $60 USD.
You can get the code, then let the phone go dormant until needed again, then reactivate with another 30 day pre-paid calling card.

The border thing is real but not everyone does live ultra-close to the border unfortunately

I did some research and there are some cheap prepaid plan like $3 a month. Just need to find a way to buy the sim card from the US and reship it to Canada. There are some paid apps as well.

Check your app store on your mobile phone for US numbers

There's tons of apps that provide this service for relatively cheap (mostly VOIP)
