Begging

I came out of a popular supermarket on Sunday and there is a guy in wheelchair with 2 kids begging.
HE said he was a truck driver of 18 wheeler who becomes disabled due to an accident,he is begging for money,food stamps only last 3 weeks.
I am not sure whether I believe him,if he is a long distance truck driver disabled on the job,there should be disability insurance from his employer plus SS,he is Black and has 2 fat kids with him,like in his early 40s.
I have little cash in my wallet,so I gave him what I have,others just walk past him.
Do you think it is a scam?
He is disabled,one of his leg was bandaged ,skinnier and ?seem to be missing ?
It is odd to see a black man with 2 kids,usually kids are with their mother?
also he should get something for dependent children.

Next time you see him you can take his wheelchair and kids from him. Tell him if he walks to you then he can have his kids back.

good idea,I will look for him next time .
I dont know about Australia,but I am seeing more homeless ,unemployed males,there is a guy who seems to live by the highway exit with his dog,he has been there for months,I dont know if he has a place to sleep at night or just camp out 24/7.
There is a gas station with a convenience store,a supermarket within walking distance,he and his dog look like well fed!

I think Australia has the same homeless as it ever has. Unemployment is staying low here.
