| | | | | agent006140 | 03-17-2024 09:14 AM | something which bugs me for a long time I visits different sites to read and post,once I read a rather strange question posted on Paypal forum?
A seller claims they have a printer in their van which they travel to attend fairs or shows etc all over the country.
when they receive an online order, they will print out a USPS label and drop it off in a local post office in whatever town or city they just happen to be in.
Then they end up in Mexico and they want to know where they can drop off this USPS package??
Common sense would tell you ,when in Mexico, print a Mexican shipping label or go to a local Mexican post office, buy stamps in pesos and ship from Mexico ,assuming buyer is in the states,to USA.
Then further questioning revealed that they always use the USPS priority envelope and the content is metal powder? or fine rounds/drops?
I dont think it is something illegal, else they wont be asking stupid question like handling over a USPS priority package to a Mexican post office and expect them to accept it. |
Re: something which bugs me for a long time i dont follow why packages end up in Mexico - USPS operates in USA and not outside of the country |
| agent006140 | 03-17-2024 07:11 PM | Re: something which bugs me for a long time They print shipping labels in their van, while in Mexico, they receive an online order from US buyer,so they print a USPS label, they have no way to print a Mexican label,I guess they could if they go online to the Mexico post office site and pay in peso with their credit card, but what would be their return address?and it would cost more as it is going to a foreign country .
The best they can do is wait till they come back to the state and drop it off at a USPS post office by the border. |
| Automasters | 03-17-2024 07:50 PM | Re: something which bugs me for a long time Probably easier to mail from Mexican post office, but you have to deal with customs delays. Since the border is non-existent, perhaps they could walk it across to Texas, drop it by USPS then walk back across to Mexico? |
| agent006140 | 03-17-2024 09:07 PM | Re: something which bugs me for a long time we dont know where they are in Mexico when they receive the order.
Yes,Brownsville Tx,all you have to do is walk across the bridge, and you are in Mexico.
In fact there is a service run by some folks in Brownsville,Mexican middle class inland use them a lot, they will join AMZN prime, order stuff shipped to this service ,then they pay $5 and Mexican customs duty, plus domestic Mexican shipping.its driver will drive across to Mexico, clear customs and turn it over to a local shipper which will ship to destination with tracking.
I used it once when I have a Mexican ordering from me,I ended up having to pay his customs fee,but still squeeze out a profit,
Foreign goods are expensive in MEXICO,esp electronics, and this is how they can get them cheaper. |

But the website cannot accept credit cards.
But what bugs me all these years is what kind of metal powder would people order online and shipped in USPS priority envelope?
and how many online sellers will stock power metal in a travelling van? |

USPS is a US postal service and only operates within the US. They need to use the local Mexican postal service ("Correos de México") to ship from Mexico. |

As to going to a local Mexican post office and ship it back to the States with tracking would be expensive,it would also have to go thru US customs, there wil be delay and customs duty.
This is an old thread,I have since decided they are running around in van selling something, which is not metal dust, case closed |

Lots of scrap silver on EBay you can have for a song. |

Silver is now almost 49 dollars per troy ounce,it was over $50 days ago.
It has a long way to go to catch up with gold, there is a short squeeze in silver now.
It is not just precious metal or rare earth, copper, aluminium, zinc, platinum are all worth more. |
