No,I am not in California,but I know the area,Berkeley is where Univ of California,Berkeley campus is,very busy during the day.
There have been series of earthquakes along the so called Ring of fires,but this is not in Pacific ocean.

Earthquakes can be important if large enough. California has them all the time though, so this is nothing new
