USB wifi antenna
 

Hi im wondering if any u guys ever used one of these? i need something that is usb for my lap top that will allow me to pick up wifi from futher distances. When im out of town i can get on wifi at a family members house but it has 1 to 0 bars and relly slow unless im out side in the cold then i can get 1 bar so i need something that will pick up the single from inside and im hopeing this will do the trick.

Nope, but I did notice my newer laptop seems to pick up signals better then my older one. :/

Just bought a New Laptop last month and I seem to be able to pick-up twice as many WiFi connections. Not sure if its because of the "N" Wifi card or not...but I suspect so.

It is possible you might get a better connection if you get a "N" rated USB Wifi adapter, or just buy a new Wifi card for your laptop.

I tested 3 brands and kept this model. It works about twice as far as the other USB models I tried. I also bought a 4ft USB extension cable so I can put on the roof of my car when I'm parked.

The other item I got to go with it is Mac Makeup. I change my MAC every different location I use my Wi-fi to log-in to my sales accounts. I read that Amazon can trace your MAC, so I change it to be safe.

I heard with the antenna u could pick up wifi to like 5 blocks away that would be awsome if so this is what i need.

I live in the mountains and can't get DSL. So I poach the satellite Wi-Fi from my neighbors. They are over 100 yards away and I'm surrounded by redwoods. In the open it works from about 200-300 yards in most places. I used to pay for T-Mobile Wi-Fi, but since I got this I canceled T-Mobile.

The only problem with it is it does drop the connection if the signal is weak. I just unplug the USB cable and plug it back in, when it does that. I haven't tested any of the $100 plus units around, so they might even work better.

^^^^^^^Hey be careful with that Mac Spoofing site I went to download it and it did some kind of run time virus better have some protection I would recommend the admins to remove the link just to be safe.

This right here is what you need anything mentioned above may help a little but not like this item from Rokland. Their website is safe to order from and they are also on ebay. Not only does it work for picking up signals really far away its cheaper than all the other items that claim great signal pick-up at $39.95

We did try Rokland's larger antenna but it didn't do much besides take up more space....its all about the chip inside we noticed not size of antenna. We usually tape the N3 to windows or skylights.

This is also mac compatible which is awesome for the imac users who built in wireless is obstructed by its aluminum frame and other internal items. This is easy to download the driver and installs in about 5 minutes maybe faster.

I would need it for a PC though not MAC

Mac make-up is pretty much same as changeing a mac address on a router just w/o haveing to have a router.

Not really, but kind of you have a mac address for your nic card and 1 for your wireless card alot harder to change your mac on those 2 then with your router.
