Are the Net Police Coming for You?

A proposed new law is threatening to disconnect the millions of internet users who unlawfully download free music, films and TV. Jo Whiley looks at how broadband use at home may never be the same, and could even be cut off.

Now I must admit this programme made me quite angry as I feel that this is another step towards an "Orwellian" State. Cutting off the internet supplier indeed.

Now some of you may disagree with me and thats fine, but I honestly do not give a rats ass about how the poor music industry suffers due to Free digital downloads.

I also have no sympathy for the poor artists whose music is downloaded free.

Why the heck would anyone buy music when it is so easily downloaded from a variety of sources.

The music industry makes billions off the backs of consumers and they are only whining due to the fact that people can now get a lot of this free.

I would never pay £10 for a music album when I can download it free and burn it to disc for £0.19 p.

You can buy a single song on itunes for 0.79p, sorry too expensive. They need to charge a fair price, say 20p to make this a worthwhile option.

Its a dog eat dog world and its survival of the fittest. No one would queue up to help me if I cant pay my bills so why should anyone feel guilty about file sharing?

I gave £100 to a breast cancer charity this month, but the way I look at it is I only really gave £50 of my own money as £50 was from "free" digital downloads.

Does this make me a better person?

yes I think they should charge less for downloads, but if it is allowed to go unchecked the industries wont be able to function at all without revenue..thats just business...they made an example of one family a while back and the kids parents have had to remortgage their home - thats ridiculous..

about what you say about better person issue - I know very few people that if you know the real way they live are perfectly moral...
whilst you have to think of yourself and your own family first - generally though morals and being a good person are extremely important, you wouldnt want immorality done towards you, so its that simple....

talking of charity - Sports relief on friday, Ive got my red and white stripey outfit ready!!
