What always gets me about this type of coverage is when they claim it costs American jobs - the rep said something like "do you think the counterfeiters pay a decent American wage?"

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Like any of the LEGITIMATE items are MADE IN AMERICA????

WHAT A SCAM!

Nike uses (or at least used in the past) child laborers in third world countries earning 18 cents an hour to make their $150+ pairs of gym shoes.

But the goverment cant spin that. So they claim it costs GOOD AMERICAN JOBS in order to use taxpayer money to protect the profits of the greedy BA***RDS!

We need some legislation to bring back some TRUTH in the government! I say make ALL politicians wear lie detectors at all times. 24/7/365

The counterfeiters are more honest than the politicians are!

Right on. The "real" stuff comes from the same country as the "counterfeits" -- China. Do people honestly think they make Chanel and Armani in America? LOL! They don't even make that stuff in Europe where most of the companies are located. They have it 95% made in China, have the bag completed in Italy, and then stamp "Made in Italy" on the item and they are legally allowed to do that. Oh yeah, then they sell it for $773596213794652346.

Just like drugs and terrorism, the government and the media (probably at the behest of these companies) have to blow things out of proportion and make it seem like buying ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Nikes makes you a flag-burning, baby-eating, Satan-worshipping supporter of Al Qaeda. Look at how these companies make obviously exaggerated claims about the money they're "losing each year" by counting every $50 knockoff as a $5,000 loss, like if people couldn't buy a $30 ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Rolex they would instead pay 6 grand for the real thing. Most people buying counterfeits, from what I have seen, KNOW what they are getting, they just can't or don't want to pay the ridiculous markup on the "real" thing.

That whole argument about costing American jobs and such is nonsense.

We live in a Capitalist world - you think people want to pay more when they can get quality for cheap? Bring all those foreign jobs back into North America and you will the complaints people have prices skyrocket...such hypocritical thinking.

These companies want to compete for good prices, market share AND cheap labour. Listen, I don't vouch for VeRo but if you are going to outsource your goods for cheap, better be ready to deal with the consequences of OTHER people wanting to make money off of you.

Media loves to cover anything that will get hearts racing is all...

I also saw somthing about child molesters being somehow linked to counterfeiting.

If you want something done in this country, just find a way to do it in the name of "protecting the children".

Want to raise cigarette taxes to $10 per pack and then elminate the ability to buy them on the internet to protect your money grab? Just say you are doing it to "protect the children" by stopping kids from ordering tobacco online. (kids don't have credit cards)

Don't like the idea of gay marriage, but don't want to be seen as homophobic? Just say you are against it in the name of "protecting the children". (kids cannot get married, no matter if the same or opposite sex)

Want to not be bothered by trick or treaters on Halloween? Just say you are "protecting the children" from all those people who put razor blades in apples. (this has happened only ONE TIME in history)

Wanna shut down the adult bookstore? "Protecting the Children"
Wanna stop a TV show from airing? "Protecting the Children"
Wanna tax soda? "Protecting the Children"
Wanna stop free speech? "Protecting the Children"

FAT CATS **DO** protect children. You see, the thing is that a slim cat can probably outrun a child, so they could maybe chase down a kid and claw them.

But if all cats had to be FAT, then the kids could probably outrun them, so it is safer.

See? WE NEED A NEW LAW!

And a few billion dollars to enforce compliance.

More Americans need to start thinking like JW and less like these self-righteous soccer moms and police-happy politicians who think that more laws and more prisons are what solve complex social issues.
