Replacing the Wireless Bill
 

Has anyone attempted to go with wifi only phones? For example using an old iPhone (with discontinued service, no AT&T bill) for VoIP only?

Has this been a successful alternative for you?

I'm thinking of making the switch because I'm pretty much surrounded by wifi 24/7 and I have a 3G iPad which gives me a back option if wifi isn't around.

By the way, I was able to get around 4-5 new phone numbers doing some iPad/iPhone VoIP tests the other day. All free by the way. :)

I haven't tested them with Amazon or eBay yet, but I'm sure they'll work fine when the time comes.

I really never thought of that.... some cities have free wifi all over too. Cool stuff. Let us know how it goes :)

What's your city? Why not just trial it for a period and see how it goes.

For free internet, however, nothing beats a hacked cable modem.

I have a ATA box at home and it connects directly to the internet. I'm using voip for basically everything. It's my home phone, paypal phone number, ebay phone number, amazon phone number, business phone number and much MORE!

Voip has changes dramatically over the past few years. I'm sure the next generation for phones will be voip.

I am sure they have my five of my favorite five or something like that in the USA. I have set up a call forwarding number for one of my fav 5 and I basically tell everyone my call forwarding number. Basically, whenever someone calls me I get free unlimited incoming calls as they are including in my fav five....

Oh, definitely VoIP is going to take over in the future.
