google chrome tyranny
 

so I downloaded a free anti virus to a laptop and didnt notice it came with google chrome piggy-back on it, so gc browser takes over everything and turns all my icons swirly yellow stripes icons. So I uninstall gc and now all my desktop links to all my off-ebay programs and sites have been lost....

anyone know what to do? some of these programs I cant find anymore in same format....would re-installing gc be of any use to get them back or are they lost, plus not ken on allowing gc on again it is a bully...........

Do a system restore to the point before you installed GC. For reference, GC is good you just need to make sure you don't select it as your default browser otherwise it will take over everything.

yes I did system restore and links are still lost regardless......

When you say links to off-ebay programs do you mean desktop short cuts like Internet Explorer icon? Sounds like it was set to clean up your desktop by automatically removing any icons you haven't used in a while. Why don't you just go through your programs and drag them to the desktop to create a new short cut?

really weird even if I try to recreate shortcut on the site, it wont let me, thats what i find odd..

I will try another system restore, didnt want to do another as Ive loaded whole load of user accounts since, I will lose, inc cookies, hard to back up all the stuff completely
