How long does international wire takes?

Anybody knows how long a international wire will take coming from Kenya to USA?

Kenya? As in Africa?? Hope you are not getting in trouble here...

Wires vary a lot. 2-4 business days always seems to be lots. But it can be a few more days depending on sending bank. So unfortunately there is no hard number of days

Well when i sent a xfer to china it took 1 day so thats why i wonder. anyone else knows?

MadSam 12-13-2010 06:59 PM

International wire usually takes 8-11 days. SWIFT can take 3 days but it costs. Banks in Kenya won't have the same infrastructure as Western or even Chinese banks as you mention.

I hope that this transfer isn't coming from some guy that emailed you one day saying he was a farmer in Africa who's family was murdered and he's inherited $20,000,000 that he needs to transfer to someone reliable in another country. :)

Kenya is not as bad as other African countries....

They have iphones, laptops and other items there aswell..and guess where they get them from? USA....

There's a demands for American goods in third world countries. In Philippines, where the ipad has not been officially released yet. It costs $1200 for the 64gb Ipad and people ARE willing to pay that MUCH!!

Sure, sure. I've sold things at ridiculous prices in South Africa. The point was these scammers pretend to come from all countries now that the one beginning with N is too familiar I've had ones claim their money is parked in Congo, Kenya, Somalia, South Africa, Swaziland, etc...

Why don't you tell him to send you the money via money order...:pound:

Seriously, the fastest and cheapest option would be for him to send it via WU for small amounts...

Whoa, $25, thats pretty cheap...

Last time I sent a wire transfer it cost me $40 for sending a small amount.

Why don't you have him send you money via an online method such as moneybookers, alertpay or even paypal...I'm sure it will be cheaper to send and receive money via those options as opposed to paying ridiculous transfer fees for a small amount..

imthatguy 12-23-2010 08:25 PM

Uhm he sent it. took 2 days. close thread
