also geohot's Rain works well to jailbreak and then unlock using a custom firmware by restoring in Itunes it's self. When you connect to itunes hit shift key and restore at the same time and navigate the IPSW for 3g version 4.2.1 and base band 05.15.04 taht you can find on iPad, iPod and iPhone Firmware Downloads - Direct Links | iPhone Firmware
