| Craigslist cash offer [Small vent] I advertise some products on Craig's to send folks to my site. Sometimes people think its an ad for used stuff locally, fair enough assumption
But I always get people saying they will offer less but will "pay cash"...
Why do they think that's an incentive? What else on earth would a local seller take? Spanish Doubloons???
It agitates me to no end. You want $400, but if I pay cash, will you take $300? I was really hoping to get paid in hubcaps, but hey, cash sounds pretty sweet...
Sigh |

I can't really comment, because I basically do the same thing, try and lowball the seller with the anticipation of cash. It's a sellers nature...Buy low-Sell high.
Next time I'm going to give the seller a choice. $300 cash or 400 hubcaps  I can't wait to try that! |

newtools | 01-22-2011 12:19 AM | Gold Hupcaps can be good payment. Rims can be expensive.
I take gold teeth and bling bling
ppl are just freaking retarded |
lakeman | 01-22-2011 02:26 AM | Lol They mean instead of a MO or check will you take a lower price if they use cash. Seems like a good question to me. :typing: |
I suppose thats what they are hinting at I guess. But when I sell anything local its cash. Some dude shows up with a check or a MO I would show him the door. I would never take a check from a stranger |
lakeman | 01-22-2011 12:45 PM | Same here, wouldn't take anything but cash. |
newtools | 01-22-2011 07:28 PM | cashhh is king!!! |
Burning | 01-22-2011 10:31 PM | I hate it when a person bargains when they come to pick up the item...
Even though you state on your listing "no low ballers" they still try to bargain with you. |
lakeman | 01-22-2011 10:34 PM | You don't bargain with people?
If I go to buy something, I'm definitely going to make an offer with cash in my hand.. If you don't that's just plain dumb! |

I make sure they know not to waste the trip. It does still happen sometimes. But usually just a quick try just to test. Had one keep pushing and pushing and I told him to walk. He tried to buy at original price and I told him to walk.... One thing you can do with a cash sale you cant on eBay is tell the pricks to hit the road. |

| Nope. Some times it may be something that can be bargined, sure. Like a car. But if I want $200 for my blackberry bold for example, I'm not taking 199 |
lakeman | 01-22-2011 10:51 PM | I've bought many things off craigslist and never once paid the asking price. I'm not talking about haggling them for 10 minutes to keep going lower and lower. I just give them an offer with cash in my hand, it has worked for me every time so far and saved me quite a bit of money. :D |
I usually get the lower price set on the phone before. So same idea I guess, just pre arranged. If I get a guy at the door thinking he's saving me by giving me 150 instead of 200, he can go away. Some people sell stuff because they need to sure. And they are easy to bring down. I'm a hypocrite too. I never pay asking price. So I'm the ass at the door too :) |
lol I've never bought anything off craigslist, simply because I'm not interested in driving somewhere to get an item that could be easily shipped to my house. I know I could probably save money doing it that way, but I consider my time to valuable to go through all the hassle just to save a few bucks rather just buy it in on amazon where I get free two day shipping. Been obsessed with amazon ever since they executed their free amazon prime for college students. Can't beat free 2 day shipping :D |

LMAO
lol imagine one day on the news: "15 year old teenager suing amazon.com for implementing parents only promotions. Couldn't resist amazon prime temptations.. so we had a baby right away so we could participate" |
imthatguy | 01-25-2011 07:36 PM | Thats why I always list my price high and say i take offers |
Melissa1971 | 01-26-2011 02:04 AM | I always ask ahead of time if they are going to have problems paying x amount in cash upon arrival.
Then if after they show up they have any problems with the amount agreed upon, then I ask them to leave immediately.
Then if they suddenly decide they now possess the integrity to follow thru with our verbal agreement, well it's too late :nono: |

In fact, even if you order amazon prime, you can cancel it, if you haven't used it. I got refunded $66 last time, since I only used it for a couple of shipments... |
