Can I cancel TMobile Data Plan after I sign a contract?

So I want to get one of those smartphones, unfortunately they all require a data plan.

It's a 2 year contract btw. Can I cancel the Data Plan (10$) after I buy the phone and sign the contract ?

If your purchasing a smart phone for calling only, I would suggest taking a look on ebay for 'unlocked phones.' I'm not sure how big your budget it, but you can pick up a decent smart phone for under $200. Usually the older modems go for a lower price,,,,

With an unlocked phone, you will be able to use it with mostly every gsm carrier. Perhaps if your looking for text + talk only, you should go on the prepaid plan and use the sim with an unlocked phone.

Here are some relatively good phones you might be interested in: blackberry torch (slighlty expensive since it's a new model), mytouch 3g, mytouch 2g, and finally touch pro 2. All these three phones I listed at the end are relatively inexpensive and can be bought on auction for under $150. Make sure the phone is unlocked, but even if it isn't you can easily do it your self.

If I were you, I would stay away from a contract. Albeit a $0 or even $99, may sound like a good deal, but if your not going to be using it on data plan, you might aswell go on prepaid for a much lower price.

You can cancel the T-Mobile contract for $149.99, but each month it gets $5 or $10 more expensive, so do it now!!!

I've noticed that you're in the United States, so check out OMG! Simple Mobile and see if they have service in your area, a lot of people haven't heard of them, and it turned out that they were located in their area.

They use t-mobiles towers, you can get unlimited minutes, texting, and 2g web for $50 per month, and unlimited talk, text, 3g/4g speed for $60 per month, basically unlimited everything.

Can't you just buy a smart phone for the plan?
