- - XP or Windows 7
( https://www.aspkin.com/forums/everything-else/38720-xp-windows-7-a.html)
| cherrqell | 11-01-2011 04:14 PM | XP or Windows 7 Curious to know how many are still using XP over 7. Over the years I have become quite attached to XP, and can't seem to let it go. I feel that it is just as reliable, if not better than 7. I still run 7 Pro on a couple of my laptops, but my main 4 PC's are up with XP. Another reason I keep the XP is I have a couple of old workhorse HP3150 laserjets that only will work with XP, and there is no way in hell I'm gonna trash my beloved printers.
Your thoughts............ |
| FandangoKango | 11-01-2011 04:25 PM | Im using windows 7 because all my computers come with it. If I could I would use xp because its faster and doesn't have alot of crap. |
I like XP - very user friendly - plus I hear 7 leaves a lot of traces of your presence... |
| GrannyT | 11-01-2011 05:02 PM | I use XP but I have no knowledge of 7 - I would say I hated XP when I had to use it but now ............ |
| FandangoKango | 11-01-2011 08:26 PM | Back then windows xp was a problematic operating system. Now it's the most stable windows release. A few years from now windows vista and 7 will be the most stable. :) |
| BiN4RY | 11-01-2011 09:21 PM | Windows XP is quite literally 10 years old as of now.
That's all I need to say. |
| jeffweico | 11-01-2011 11:30 PM | Windows 7 has a smaller footprint and is more efficient than XP. I like it, conisdering it is a Windows OS.
Still prefer Linux, though. |

Its called a virtual machine built into windows 7. Anyone who has 7 pro or higher can download a virtual copy of XP from Mr. Soft's (Microsoft's) website.
I use it to play some old games that wont play with 7. You will need to install all the drivers and other stuff but it works perfectly. |
| FandangoKango | 11-02-2011 05:54 AM | You can get a virtual copy free full version from microsoft? |

| Azeryama | 11-04-2011 11:49 AM | Yeah, XP is a good OS, but Windows 7 is smoother if you have the right components to make it run smoothly. |
| Clones | 11-10-2011 09:29 AM | I like windows 7, it has amazing and new features as compare with windows xp and other version of windows. |
| Gamefreak | 11-11-2011 05:57 AM | XP, a lot of the programs I use have compatibility issues with 7. Although I have tri boot on all my pcs.
XP, 7 and hackintosh |
Maybe a dumb q, but thinking of getting a new comp soon however the price goes up by 120 if I buy windows 7 with it - if I decide NOT to, is there a good way of getting win 7 for cheap-y? (Just looking for ideas, PM if necessary) |
| Gamefreak | 11-11-2011 05:49 PM | download an untouched copy from the net and buy a legit key.... |
| BiN4RY | 11-16-2011 05:40 PM | A legit key costs just as much as the boxed copy. Those cheapy $30-$50 Ultimate keys are all from MSDN, which will be blocked by MS shortly.

| jbluntz | 11-16-2011 06:19 PM | The free ones always worked for me even the ones sold on ebay always worked just as well as long as you don't run WGA. |
| Gman91189 | 11-16-2011 09:56 PM | I hate vista its like in the middle of XP and windows 7 its horrible..personally I love windows 7 it has many features, simple ones at that, that just makes everything so efficient, don't get me wrong XP is good also but windows 7 is just more beautiful more user friendly not to mention it has a futuristic type of feel for it.....
Any one excited about windows 8?
Cause I'm not |
| jbluntz | 11-16-2011 10:06 PM | Windows 7 ultimate makes for a good home o/s but for multiple VMwares I would think Xp pro would be more efficient do to it's smaller size, I use both. |
| yotano211 | 11-16-2011 10:15 PM | When I was selling "bad" software I would buy full box sets for $22 each box. I think the codw keys went for 8-10 each. |
| Gman91189 | 11-16-2011 10:28 PM | What would be the purpose of having a VMware?
Sorry little new on this I heard about it but I just can't wrap my finger around the purpose of it or how to integrate it with stealth...pros and cons... can u pm jbluntz?? |
| jbluntz | 11-16-2011 10:33 PM | That's for the amazon people, you don't need it for ebay. |
JB is right on for this - using vmware for eb can be done but it's more of a hassle...right now. |
