I am sure it will only start in limited areas and then I will need to buy a new phone. There IP address range will sure be very limited. Thanks but I wull stick with Virgin mobile with countless IP numbers.

I believe that this Is only for the USA at the moment. It Is suppose to have NO data caps, so that's a good thing, we'll see how true this Is when it comes out. Also, at $19 per month it's a steal, and should come to some use. I'll post again on Nov 8th to let you know if it's worth it, or not. I do know it's going to work with Android phones, but don't know which ones.

I agree, when it comes to mobile services, it's not all about the price. The quality of sevice matters a lot more.

The service they are offering was tried and failed around 2 years ago or more and it was from an even larger company. It uses WiFi networks to reroute your calls.

I don't know if these little guys will ever pull this off.

It looks interesting and seems to have decent backing.

However, I tried Sprint in my area before and the reception was awful. Then, add in the newness and uncertainty of the wi-fi switching, and I don't think I'll be signing up on the 8th.

If others in my area had a good experience, I would probably give it a shot though.

I like saving money, but reliability is just too important to me in a cell phone. For example, what happens if I get a flat tire on the highway? Or wake up having chest pains? I'm in my heart-attack years and I eat pure CRAP!

I was Finally able to get to the site it mush have been down Earlier,,

AS for T-Mobile you gotta Watch those Guys and their "So Called Unlimited" Plans,,they LOVE to "Throttle Back" Bandwith Speeds,,take a GOOD look at their Plans,,,they tell you the amount of Data that a Particular Plan will allow you to Download at "Premium Speed"

Everyone assumes that "Premium Speed" is 4G Speed,,,Well, Guess What,, T-Mobile also consideres 3G Speed as "Premium",,,"Regular or NoN-Premium Speed" is the old EDGE Network which is like an old Like a Dial-up Modems speed,,,So Basically for Most of the Time you are Moving at the Pace of a Turtle, is that really "Unlimited"?,,,T-Mobile thinks so,,I Don't

Thank the ITU for this. They don't regulate sh*t anymore so all these cell companies can claim all the nonsense they want with no repercussions except pissing off customers. But, the revenue generated outweighs this.

got this email. supposedly the reveal is tomorrow. still unknown on WHAT smartphone for 99, and dynamic or static. im guessing static

Welcome to republic wireless.

So what’s it like here?

A reward for being first:
Join now, and pay $99. That’s $100 less than the normal $199 cost. You read that right. For $99 you get a new smartphone, and a whole new kind of mobile phone network.

Freedom isn’t free. It’s $19.
Almost immediately you notice what’s missing. The hefty monthly bills, the endless nickel-and-diming, the big red contracts...yes, we can hear you now. Do you hear us? With republic wireless, you pay a flat $19 a month for everything. Period.

How is that possible?
republic is a Wi-Fi network. Anything cellular can do, Wi-Fi can do better (and for less). That’s 21st Century technology. That’s also basic economics. So let’s all use Wi-Fi as much as possible.

Change the way wireless works
Decide whether to become a member now, or maybe later. Either way, like minds for evolving the industry are wanted here, today. You have thoughts to share, ideas to spread. Bring them to our forums. Keep up with us via our blog. Tell the republic what’s up.

Next stop: republicwireless.com
There’s so much more we have to show you. So visit, look around. Oh, that $99 offer we told you about? To get it, use the code welcome19 to join before November 27, 2011 at 11:59 pm ET.

Looking forward to being your new wireless network!

I am not going to sign up for this or any of their offers. Wifi only has a range of about 300 feet, I would need to be around a wifi hotspot nonatop to talk on the phone or to operate EB accounts. I will stick with Virgin and their 45/month plan.

But I wish them luck in their business practices.

Dude You are Nuts,,,,There is TOTALLY Different Kind of WI-FI Equipment involved in this,,,Did you Know that SPRINTS Entire 4G Network is Wi-Fi?,,

The Rumor is that they will Move over to the LTE 4G Network next year,,

It's already happening with LightSquared as the partner.

eh

"How much cellular usage is too much?
It depends. Even assuming 0% wifi usage, for example, you could consume 550 minutes, send 150 texts, and download 300 megabytes of data without crossing the community’s fair use threshold. "

Here Is the update on Republic Wireless. For signing up I received an offer, which Is $99 for the cell phone, and $19 per month for the phone service. The company believes wifi calling has a better signal than the traditional cellular network.

PROS:
- Wifi Calling, once you have your network set up for phone it'll automatically use the wireless Internet for calling AUTOMATICALLY

- Cellular + Wifi calling FREE without the need of an app that requires you to pay for minutes

- $99 for the phone for anyone that signed up before November 8th

- Wifi calling works anywhere In the World

- Domestic Roaming Is free

- Uses Sprints Network, so If you were skeptical about this company, and have a "Virgin Mobile" phone, you shouldn't have any problems with this phone, and it's a much better deal

- You can return the phone for a FULL REFUND within 30 days If you're not Satisfied

CONS:
- No selection of phones, only 1 phone available (LG Optimus Android 2.3)

-$199 for phone for anyone who signs/signed up Nov 8th and beyond

- Celluar service not available outside of the USA

I will keep my current phone with Android 2.2. I have tried to root some smart phones with 2.3 in the same model, LG opt., and it did not go well. I had to factory reset the entire phone three times. It was my first time trying to root Android 2.3.

Plus I use a lot more then 300MB of data and 550 minutes of talk time per month. I would get kicked out in 2 days with just the data usage I use with EB and general web browsing.

Sometimes going to a cheaper phone service is not worth the headaches. $10/month or $45/month, I pick the $45/month.

I know they are already taking criticism for false advertising.
