Cheap Label Printer
 

I don't sell much yet, so I'm looking to spend around $100 or less. I saw the Zebra thermal printer discussed here and I'm now looking into getting the zebra LP2844 or the zebra LP2844-z on eBay right now. Would you buy a "seller refurbished" or "used" one or would you stay away from them?

Also, what's the difference between the zebra LP2844 and the zebra LP2844-z?

Find a thread i made a while ago. I don't remember the name but its something to do with label printer or something like that. It answers all your questions.

I saw it and ordered the zebra LP2844. Looks like it's a PITA to set up though. If anyone here currently uses it please tell me your settings.

Good printers. You can order FREE labels from UPS. Here is anther tip. If your print is light go into printer properties and adjust the intensity and speed. Zebra has the drivers.

The ONLY problem i have is that while my labels come from UPS... i cannot use it with the UPS portal on either ebay or Paypal.

So the printer came today. It was the UPS LP 2844.

TGMT-mine has different settings than yours, quite a bit less. I think it's an older, different model. However, I was still able to set it up pretty well for the most part I believe.

I tried printing some USPS labels in PayPal. Originally, I had it on portrait within USPS and it printed fine, but the text got cut off on the end. I saw that and changed to the Landscape setting. Now, it's printing it the proper way, but there's breaks where the label isn't printed. Any advice?

^ Same exact thing was happening to me when i bought my first one. I tried EVERY possible way to get it working. Installed every driver out there tried all types of settings and it still printed that way.

I returned the printer and bought a new one. This time i made sure from the seller it works with USPS. And it printed fine. I called zebra and what they told me was that some of these label printers even though they look the same some do not work with USPS due to the drivers not being compatible with the printer. You need to return this printer and buy one that works with USPS.

The guy told me he tested it with USPS beforehand and he said it worked fine. I hope that's not the problem, really don't want to pay return shipping. I'm going to wait for some more input before I return it.

well i just tried to print another sample label and it worked fine. No idea why, I haven't changed the configuration, installed anything, or rebooted, but it worked. Hopefully it continues to work. If it doesn't, I was thinking that I could probably save the label as a .xps and then print it like that. Hopefully that will work if the printer ever gives me trouble again.

Glad you got it working. You will start to love that thing. It saves so much time.

That is the first i have heard of drivers not working with some of them. I have been using these printers for 10 years and have had a few versions. Sometimes you get a unit that has had a lot more use and you need to slow it down and print darker but that is it. UPS label is 01774006 for the 4x6.

if you are having problems with the lp2844, change the print speed in settings to the slowest speed possible. i was having all sorts of problems until i did this. fixed it immediately

Does the Zebra LP 2844 include labels? Or would I have to buy labels right from the start?

I am considering buying this printer soon. Never knew printers were so pricey :ranger:
