rsot 02-07-2012 10:42 AM

My specs - I will try to pull up - seriously though, what kind of specs you expect on the laptop I use for eb...a P4 from 2002, 512 mb ram...ha not much else to figure out. I did get a new comp - once it's setup, will pull the specs.

MM78 02-07-2012 11:00 AM

that's ok rsot, I use a super old pc for ebay myself. Heaven forbid I open multiple programs at once, lol.

@tanxful, thanks for the concern but I doubt there's any prudent info that can be connected to me.

Slightly outdated, but not too much has been changed except I have 3x 23" 1080P monitors and 2x 4TB HDDs now.

Everything is also watercooled btw.

MM78 02-07-2012 06:41 PM

@BiN4RY, Your computer makes mine look like a midget in a Bear fight! lol. Pretty wicked specs.

Very impressive, How much would a rig like that cost?

yotano211 02-07-2012 08:00 PM

A rig like that is about $2,400, or has much as my gaming laptop. Laptops are so over priced.

LoopHole 02-08-2012 11:21 AM

My specs are like 2gb ram/e6600/gt7950gt :)

Horrible specs. But i only use my comps for research/stealth. Used to be a HUGE gamer. Sold my gaming rig/xbox 360/ps3. All i play now is with my stealth accs. Best game i ever played :)

Its not really horrible specs, just upgrade the cpu to a q6600 and overclock the crap out of it. those babies can do 3.2-3.6 easily and upgrade the graphics card to a cheap amd 5770 and your in business again; total cost of upgrades is about $200. Just keep all of the old components you already have. Swap out the old cpu and gpu and install the new ones.

10min upgrade and you can run most new games almost maxed out. Boom and Bam new gaming rig.

Your system is more then enough for simple tasks. In fact a first generation i7 quad or dual core are not much faster then the older Core 2 quads or dual core. The 45nm Core 2 quads can be overclocked to 40% easily but you'll have to raise the voltage a little bit to get it stable.

Its the second generation i7 quad or Sandy Bridges where performance is much better then your cpu. But your running simple tasks so its not worth the money to upgrade when you do simple tasks. Its not going to open web pages or anything faster, for that you would need to upgrade your hard drive to a SSD (solid state drive). It will load programs much faster them a mechanical drive.

Best part right now is that mechanical drives have increased in prices from the floods in Thailand but SSD prices have come down a lot more then normal.

degsey69 02-08-2012 10:33 PM

Ok you guys you have got me jealous I donated my Sinclair ZX80 to the museum and went out and bought one of these super PC's

Got it of a mexican at the local flea market, told me it was top of the range in Mexico.

Heres the spec

386 SX25
512k ram
40Mb hard drive
64k vga card
mitsumi single speed cd rom
Full tower case
14" color IBM monitor

He said it would do all that I needed for a long time to come.

MM78 02-09-2012 02:12 AM

Look degsey69, I sold it to you for $20, what more you want!

yotano211 02-09-2012 02:14 AM

Maybe he wants something with a 486 in it.

Thankful 02-09-2012 07:42 AM

Yeah can get some real good rigs on eBay on for hella cheap now, and they'd run every top game on at least medium settings.

yotano211 02-09-2012 10:54 AM

Its better to build your own with parts bought on EB. You can be proud of it and customize it like hell. New paint job, new lights.

BiN4RY 02-11-2012 04:05 PM

Ebay had the tendency to overprice newer parts, and also parts that are one our two generations behind. You are better of buying new parts from newegg instead.

degsey69 02-11-2012 08:52 PM

No I'd rather keep my 386 and I am saving up for mouse with no ball in it as mine gets fluff stuffed up there.
