| | | poorgirl | 03-31-2012 05:40 PM | white collar salary range? Just boring and thinking about how much is a white collar person make a year? I live in CA, so I think in order to live in a comfortable life, need to make at least 80000 per year.........what do you think? And what state do you live in? :) |
| Gamefreak | 03-31-2012 06:25 PM | 45k a year in CA you can live comfy off that. I live in CA I dont even make that much cuz I keep buying so much stuff all the time |
| unkown5454 | 03-31-2012 07:19 PM | 45k? do you live in the slums? |
Gamefreak, you in Compton? jk bro. I think you can live in So. Cal on 65k a year. My wife makes 60k plus my 20k a year is enough. Although the school loan I get does help more with my gas since gas in L.A. is up the wazuu. |
| jamblix | 03-31-2012 09:24 PM | Pfft you guys are the ones joking. I could live super comfortable in LA or San Diego with $35k a year easy and I have. This is with going out every weekend and having all the bud you can smoke. |
| unkown5454 | 03-31-2012 10:10 PM | Why is everyone so excited to live on bare minimum? Aspire to make something of yourself, geez... |
| hackteck | 04-01-2012 01:15 PM | no one is excited to live on bare minimum but the reality is making more isnt always possible does that mean every person who doesnt make alot of money is lazy in your eyes? |
| oompaloompa | 04-01-2012 01:34 PM | you get accustomed to what you make, when your lifestyle goes up you need more to keep it going...
Also are we talking individually or couple, you may make 80k but who you live with may make more or less or nothing and that has a bearing on your lifestyle and what you can afford jointly..... |

| yotano211 | 04-01-2012 01:46 PM | With white collar jobs, it depends on your job title and the company you work for. It also matters what state you live in. Some states, the jobs have average higher salary cuz of higher expense of life.
I was making $53-$62 from 2005 to 2008 living in Vegas working at a investment bank |
| AmazonStealth | 04-01-2012 08:14 PM | It really depends where you are in life (age), your life style, and major life purchases (college, car, house). Personally I could live off of 50k or 200k a year and live close to the same lifestyle. I am around 150k a year after the tax man rapes me. Keep in mind that consistency in life is key. 90% of NBA players go bankrupt, because they buy all these luxury things, but can not be constant financially, and the shiz hits the fan before they know it. |

Probably have fancy cars and stuff, living outside your means. |
| UnderBites08 | 04-01-2012 10:16 PM | We all live outside our means. Americans especially are very spoiled. When the power goes out for a day or so you'll see how spoiled we really are. 50k a year should be enough for anyone. Even lower should be enough too. We all just want it all though. |
| poorgirl | 04-01-2012 11:36 PM | Its nice to hear everybody's thoughts. I know it doesn't matter 40k or 80k you make, because it all depends on the life style you have or you want :) If we don't have too much desires, then, even just 25k should do, but it's hard for a woman who likes to spend a lot like me :) so, I got to lower that thought! |
| jbluntz | 04-02-2012 12:43 AM | Depends on what you have, if you already have everything you need and want, cars, clothes etc. all you need from there is to pay the bills and keep plenty of cash in your pocket. I don't even keep track of what I make, just make enough to get the things I want and keep plenty of cash on hand, you don't need more than that unless you're the insecure type trying to live up to somebodies ⊗⊗⊗⊗ little idea of a status symbol. |
| download3000 | 04-02-2012 01:43 AM | lol white collar jobs? i think your on wrong forums :spy:.
Jokes aside i think anything over 75k is to be considered above average once you hit 120k your probably the 1% considering your single etc. |
| Sandy D | 04-02-2012 02:33 AM | There is not set amount.
Everyone can live on different amounts in different parts of the country.
In most towns in the midwest you can live extremely good on 50k.
Then add in some of the same midwest towns that are full of life and things to do and 50k wont get you anything but frozen dinners because of the cost of living.
Hilton Head SC for instance, if you cannot afford a 300k house then you would be living in the slums outside of the city.
Drive 45 minutes away from Hilton Head and you can buy a decent house on 50k per year and do well.
I know someone who actually lived in Vegas for a while and said he could not make it there on 75k per year. He said he struggled to make ends meet.
Then I know a a 26 year old who lives in a beach town and makes 50k per year and lives it up.
Hard to compare because no one has the same lifestyle, wants, needs etc. |

Orange County - not a chance. | You would attempt to purchase a legitimate house only making $45k/year? Haha...wow this forum has more ignorant people than I thought. |
| sergfro | 04-03-2012 09:07 AM | Considering the mortgage is about 700-800 a month is easy doable for someone making 45k. Do a little research before you look dumb. |
| unkown5454 | 04-03-2012 11:04 AM | You said huge house...do you have any clue what your are typing? z$700-$800 mortgage is a godd*mn hut sweetheart. Big baller...
I bet you try and buy a $100K car too? |
| sergfro | 04-03-2012 01:43 PM | Yep, you do sound dumb. |
| C.Japschin | 04-03-2012 02:00 PM | I live 15mins away from Disneyland, CA. Before the economy bust, I could only rent. It used to cost at least $600k for a 1300 sqft house in my neighborhood. Now, only reason I can get a small house, afford the monthly mortgage is because the loan is under someone who makes $200k/yr and also renting out the small side house.
Luckily I only buy stuffs which I need, not want. I try to save as much as I can. Think the only thing I spend on is the much-awaited long vacation home every 1.5-2 years. |

Its almost a thousand a week mortgage aint gona be more than 2k(house under 230k) leaves you 2k for other expenses unless ur an idoit and have a huge lease on a car you couldt afford or have kids its possible. |

Perhaps we have difference perceptions. I don't even live in a place nearly as nice as California and there certainly is no "huge" houses remotely close to that price where I live. Now if you want a cute little condo, your $700 might just make it...
Either way, I can see you won't even attempt to clarify yourself. If $45k is balling out of control for you, then have a happy life I suppose. |

If $45k is balling out of control for you, then have a happy life I suppose. | 2100+ sq feet house and a 8000+ sq feet lot you can find those everywhere in sb/riverside county for about 800 a month. Just do research. Or would you like me to copy and paste you a few houses that are for sale at that price range?
I'll let you have the last word bubba. |
| unkown5454 | 04-03-2012 04:20 PM | Ahh, you did it. Thanks. 2100sqft is small. Point made. :thumb: |

| C.Japschin | 04-03-2012 09:40 PM | I'm in Anaheim. Used to live one block away from South Coast Plaza but too expensive after my roommate moved out to live with her bf. It was 2k a month for a 700 sq ft 1 br apt 3-4 years ago. They tried to raise $400 when the lease was up. |
| OfficialGenius | 04-04-2012 03:46 AM | Well, the average income for a single/individual earner in New York is $45,000-$50,000(Age 25+)
How much does the typical American family make? This question is probably one of the most central in figuring out how we can go about fixing our current economic malaise. After all, we don’t hear many people saying in today’s world that they have too much money.
The median household income in the United States is $46,326. Here in California people have a hard time understanding that yes, 50 percent of our population live on $46,000 or less a year. Even today, all the elixirs and remedies being thrown around fail to focus on income and the big brother of income, solid employment. Dual earner households have a higher median income at $67,348.
So I'm guessing INDIVIDUAL/SINGLE earners in the US averages out to around $30,000?
As long as you AIM to be ABOVE the average number then you'll be successful and doing better than the average person!
But at the end of the day, it's not about how much money you make, it's about how you maintain it.
It's not what you make, it's what you spend. If you spend more than you make, you're going to go backwards financially. On the other hand, if you spend less than you earn, you're on the path to becoming wealthy. :ranger: | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:48 AM. | |
