camera buying

anyone know much about cameras ? my mrs (now unemployed lol) is interested in photography was looking at a Fuji S2980 Bridge Camera as a start looks ok for the cash to me but its not my game

ideas anyone please ?

It seems from the reviews I have read that it is a good all around camera and a beginners SLR. The only down part is the alkaline battery and the lens cannot be changed.

I just bought the Nikon 1 it is a beginners SLR between a point and shoot and a real SLR. The great thing is that the lens is changeable.

Again I am a noob when it comes to cameras but read the reviews around the web until someone with experience chimes in.

Too restricted as a first camera.

Would be better for someone going on vacation a couple of times a year & using a camera then.

In a way price is not what counts in a camera.:ranger:

It's what the camera does that should be determined.

Compare it to buying a manual car to an automatic. The differences will make the using all the better.
I'll sort thro' some notes :mod:

Likely this model nikon 1

Nikon 1

OK double the price of the Fuji but...........

the odds of producing great quality photos are inbuilt.
It does the thinking for you yet allows a budding photographer to manually change settings if experimenting.

I LOVE Nikons for a variety of reasons. Been using them for years.

Competive prices :thumb:

High quality of their workmanship

Good choice of OEM compatible gear

GB exactly it literally does most things on automatic. But for more advanced users it has so many settings that you can tweak.

This is my 3rd Nikon camera but I also love the Fuji brand.

I still have not got a true SLR yet cause I only use my cameras for vacations, parties or weddings.

I use my Nokia N8 for taking ebay item pictures. lol. They come out great.
