Sunglasses So I had an Eye appointment the other day and the doc told me that I need to start using Sunglasses because I've started a slow build of cataracts and with Sunglasses it will not build any further. Want to keep that 20/20 eyesight, What are some good Sunglasses to get? I ain't spending $150-$200 on a pair but maybe $50-$75.
Thanks,

| Thankful | 05-14-2012 08:28 PM | Sorry to hear that marysman.
I would pay $150-$200 or even more to try to help my eyes against cataracts - I think health comes first, quality sunglasses for health anyday! |
Yeah but me pooor! lol. I'm actually trying to get my eye doctor to sign me a prescription for the glasses, If the doc does then the insurance covers 95%. |

| AmazonStealth | 05-14-2012 08:46 PM | I would most likely just dish out the dough for a pair of LEGIT oakleys. I never understand why people dont spend good money on stuff they use every single day or stuff to protect themselves from spending more money in the future. |
| jpy295 | 05-14-2012 08:48 PM | Hahaha that was a sketchy comment thankful. |
So Oakleys? are there any other brands or specific style to get? I just popped $3k for school, I am literally low on funds but If I can get my Doc to prescribe them, then I will go with a nice expensive pair...and hope I don't freaking break them! lol. |
| moneyhustler88 | 05-14-2012 09:09 PM | wow thats mad..i also went to the optician today..and found out i'm 80% blind in my left eye..i now have to wear specs and go to hospital..they think i have something wrong with my cornea..which isn't good news..but as thankful said i think health over any cost..so i already paid £250 for 2 Hugo Boss glasses, ones a normal pair for everyday use, the second some sunglasses ;) |

Marysman78 | You want the truth?
Get the best you can afford to protect your eyes.
Do not short-change yourself on el cheapo lenses.
However would you define 'eye doctor' for me?
Did you mean a Board certified MD who has specilaized in Ophthalmology or something else?
If the former did he suggest anything else?
If the latter, get a 2nd opinion.
Your aim with lenses should be to have those that prevent/reduce exposure to ultraviolet rays.
If you already have glasses do consider transition lenses
nb: not medical advice by advice based on being told the same things by my specialist. :peace: ps: Dem glasses are aces :thumb: |
Yes, Board Certified MD, not a person who went to 6 month training at some off the wall school in a 2nd story office building, lol (those schools are scary).
My Doctor suggested sunglasses to protect from Ultra-Violet. I know I shouldn't skimp on the glasses, but I just want to get a feel for a good pair that won't break the bank.
I don't wear glasses at all...yet (knock on wood) and I've never liked sunglasses, was never my thing so I find it hard to just pick a pair I'm gonna like. I guess I gotta go hit a few stores to find a pair I am comfortable with.
Big Hug for you GB http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NqL0M8YWrT...Hug-Day-18.jpg |
| GreenBean | 05-15-2012 12:43 AM | *blushes* Thank you. Sight is precious & should be protected always. :D Oakley - The Official Site
Scan thro' the above part of oakley's site.
Thier customers service is good. Once you ask about UV levels & filters plus a prcie range they should assist you with a safe choice. :) |
Hope you get covered. Once that`s set, you must get solid quality for your eyes. Cataracts are horrible when they progress - although thanks to modern lens replacement, easily correctable...better to keep these kind of progression at bay :)
All the best. |

I might still try the Oakleys or similar. |
| Burning | 05-18-2012 12:22 AM | If your looking to buy prescription glasses or sunglasses, I would suggest: Clearly Contacts™ | Contact Lenses, Eyeglasses, Sunglasses & More
(they also have USA website aswell)
They sell branded sunglasses - there a reputable website with numerous reviews. I've bought prescription glasses from them in the past, excellent quality, and even had them checked by an optometrists. If anyone is looking for prescription glasses, without having to pay a hefty price, buy them online. You can save a leg and an arm. Eye glass stores have a HUGE markup on glasses in general - I can get my prescription glasses for 1/4 the price online. |
Doesn't it take like a month from Canada to USA? lol. |
