BT line costs £170 to install

I'm on VM at the moment, i've heard O2 is much better as the IP changes by itself, BT said it will cost me £170 to fit a BT line in, has anyone else been given this price?

aspkin 05-18-2008 01:14 PM

Is that some UK Lingo you got there?

lucy 05-18-2008 01:31 PM

O2 is internet company and so is VM, is that what you meant by lingo:rolleyes:

When is the Ebook going to be updated?

No, Lucy... Just U...cos Ur special... :) if your gonna go with BT Lucy make a note of the following.. i aint gonna retype it.. answer pm's.. or go into a massive debate about it... so read it.. digest it...print it out.. the choice's are endlesss..

Firstly.......THIS WORKS FOR ME

1: If Bt have quoted you £170, well that's what your going to pay.. no if's but's etc, if you want BT your GOING to pay it.

2: Once line connected with BT, sign up for BT Broadband with Hub

3: Once signed up, you will recieve a nice shiny new hub and with it your first phone number.. lets call that (A)

4: You will also recieve a Hub Phone to go with Ur hub.. an internet phone if you like.. which your able to choose a new phone number for with your local area code lets call that phone number (B)

5: The ip the hub provides is as far as i know static... changing IP is as easy as resetting the hub...even has it's own RESET button

6: BT will also offer you a service, the name of which escapes me at the mo, but basicly for a £1 a month charge, they will give you, yet another phone number, lets call that (C) this number rings on your normal (A) number, but has a different ring tone..one you choose yourself... now the main feature of phone number (C), is the ability to change the number as and when required..

So, all in all, no ballache with IP, no ballache with phone verification services, and no need to be a Tech head to understand...

Any questions Lucy...message Aspkin... he understands your "Lingo" now.. :)

scouse..

He's fibbin Lucy.. just told me, he was on tenderhooks awaitin that PM! :)

lucy 05-18-2008 04:34 PM

scouse12345, i don't fully understand your post, why would i need to have phone lines in the first place?, i can't afford £170 and certainly NOT getting it for a house i'm renting, going for dial up instead

whats in the next update?

GreenBean 05-18-2008 04:40 PM

You are not going to know that until aspkin gets it finished.... trouble is we {including me} interrupt Lord Leader too much. basically it's is a fine tuning of points.

Regardin scouse12345's post, it gave you info IF you were thinking of BT, that's what I read.

mattcafc 05-19-2008 03:01 PM

Why do you want to spend £170 just to get one single new phone number?

lucy 05-19-2008 03:13 PM

I was thinking of changing from VM to O2 as the ip changes, BT quoted me £170 to fix a new line in, after thinking it through, why on earth should i pay £170 to fix a BT line in a house i'm renting, i can't take the line with me to the next house i rent, so not doing it, too much money for me, can't afford it

mattcafc 05-19-2008 04:08 PM

Why do you so badly want an ISP where you have a dynamic IP address?

You still wont be able to make new ebay accounts unless you have new landline numbers aswell

lucy 05-22-2008 08:54 AM

easier than having to mess around with software and change it manually, too complicated:p
