NBC Dateline Tonight 10/26/2012
 

Since we all sell online, I thought it would be interesting for many of you to check out dateline tonight. I caught some of the Today Show this morning before I headed out to work and Chris Hanson is doing a story on crazy things that people sell on craigslist. It was just a preview and they didnt show much, but they showed someone who was ready to sell their kidney for 50k, someone selling their marijuana delivery business, some others selling hard drugs, and a hitman willing to make someone "go away" for 25k. Insane.

I saw that. Im going to watch it tonight as well.

The craziest thing I've seen, and made me report it to the cops, was a couple trying to have sex with other peoples children and THEY pay the parents.

Needless to say, the ad did not last long and the nutcases were arrested. This was in NY craigslist but they also posted in other states, I think.

Its is indeed, insane.

Some people are just not scared or are too stupid to be scared

I am sure those cases that they show on Dateline are just extreme cases of wrong things. I'm sure they wont show the people who can make a full time living selling on Craigslist list. I have meet a few people who do that when ever I bought something from there.

They are going for the extreme "wow" factor, scare people into not buying anything from Craigslist cuz everyone selling on their are some kind of creeps. I might watch it, if not I'll look for it on utorrent.

Obviously it is the rare, strange, and obscene things or no one will watch the special. This type of thing happens on a daily basis with craigslist as there are only 50 employees for the entire site.

This is the crap that scares people away from CL and causes me to lose money. So, thanks jacka$ses.

Just finished watching it, it was pretty good.

I even learned a couple of things....

1st thing I learned was there is a site like Craigslist called backpage.

2nd thing was, I was very surprised to hear that some of those kiosk stores you see in the major malls sell counterfeit items.

Anyway, it was a good episode and worth watching. :)

not surprised by anything I saw.. The store TGMT mentioned is just how these guys are making money now, 995 of the ppl cant tell the difference and are happy with what they get for the price they get it for...

YUP! This has been going on forever. No name perfume shops/kiosks are selling count.er.feit trash all day long, and of course the jewelry thieves.

Free classifieds - backpage.com Has bee around for a while,,,the Sex Ads Keep them Going,,,Which by the way they are under BIG Time Heavy Political pressure to Stop accepting, they have received a LOT of news coverage on this issue

I am shocked that you're just now finding out about backpage, it has been around for awhile, but doesn't get as much traffic as Craigslist.

As far as the kiosk stores goes, there are lots of them selling silver as gold, and ⊗⊗⊗⊗ perfume/cologne.

I even remember a store at my mall that was 2 stores down from MACY's that sold counterfeit p90x, zumba,etc for years without any problems, but the store is now gone.

I stopped shopping at malls years ago. They can keep that rubbish

backpage is so seedy

Yup. Not a community controlled website at all. Completely controlled by staff. I have had legit items get removed for no reason and no one responds when attempting to contact them.

There's a website called silkroad that is only accessable through Tor. Selling drugs, guns and all sorts of stuff. I think some guy got busted on there.

I always thought about doing this during November and December but no way to stay stealth. Sure you could make a ton of money but way to easy to get busted. It's not worth it even though I am sure you can make a ton of money!
