hotmail recovery password

important hotmail, need to get password reset, but cannot see the recovery confirmation on any of my other main emails.

plus captcha impossible to get through, tried 50 times and i swear I was doing it correctly.

I contacted MS and they sent me a link that lead nowhere, to a private discussion in their security centre?

I swear some of them are faulty.

What are you running to try to recover this password?

I suppose you never tied the hotmail/any other email account to a mobile phone number eh ???

That way, the security pin code to unlock/change the account details would be sent to your number.

Check your emails deleted & spam mail folders.

it is an old hotmail and it has MY name and no numbers, impossible to get with any provider now. Plus it is the only contact some old friends have of me...

did not use it for long time, came back to it and password would not work, dont recall changing it.

I thought I would have something on a recovery email, but cannot find it on my main ones...

captcha is definately faulty...

do you have a long password ?

hotmail in their infinite wisdom changed things not long ago and passwords can now only contain 16 characters maximum

If your password that has more than 16 characters, enter the first 16 only

might be the issue

i had a similar issue with gmail a while back

they have a phone option to speak to someone in the states (cost a couple of dollars)

they asked me some questions about who i email and who i recieve from etc etc

they reset it for me in the end

im sure microsoft have a similar option

just been doing some sniffing around and found this on one of microsofts support pages

"A Hotmail account is deleted if it is not used during the first 10 days after you register or for any consecutive 60 days."

no it got used alot when registered, for a couple of years but may have sat unused for 6 months at a time after that, it was my university email, I tried a year ago and left it, now I am trying again and more urgent, as one of our friends unfortunately died and I want to let a few people know around the world....plus I want my named email back regardless...

could it have got hacked by someone that had same name???
