Need Help Making My Zebra Printer Wireless

I'm sorry if this subject has been brought up or if its in wrong place. Please move if have to Green Bean

My business is getting more and more successful as each day goes by, i have about 50 orders a day and probably reach about 200 in a month or 2 so i have to start getting some upgrades.

I'm working on both ebay and amazon and the way i would print out the shipping labels was with an ordinary ink printer. The way i do it is (huge hassle and mickey mouse style) the first paper ordinary paper for the package slips and the second one is a easy peel shipping label sticker.

So i would just print package slip and right away print shipping label. Sometimes i would have to do it again because i would accidentally put 2 papers or 2 label stickers because they would get stuck.

So i was just wondering how some of you with 500, 400, 100, even 50 orders a day do it?
I was thinking of purchasing a used zebra LP 2844 but those things only fit 250 Shipping labels in them and would have to change the roll almost ever day. Please i will be willing to listen to any suggestions

Actually, the rolls I get come in 320 count.

AND: As far as changing the rolls, it literally takes less than 15 seconds.

You really won't find another printer that is better. And there is nothing stopping you from running 2 of these at a time. :)

I recently found out that there is a feed in the back of the printer and instead of buying rolls you can buy the labels folded. So I'm guessing if the printer is placed somewhere high behind it you can stack folded labels and another good thing about this after being printed it too is folded as well.

My issue is wondering what software/service to use with the printer. Something that allows you to import or copy shipping info from eBay FAST without being linked.

I use my zebra printer with all my ebay accounts and nothing gets linked. And there is drivers you can use if you want to print with USPS, fedex, or UPS. It depends on your preference of shipping company.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, i wish someone could create a manual of how to get your zebra running after purchased.

It looks like it comes with a cd, if we purchase it used most likely the cd is not going to come with it. Is that a problem?

Laritha 10-03-2012 02:51 PM

Anyone use stamps.com or any similar service? Or print directly from eBay?

There is really 1 setting that has to be enabled. (In BOLD below)

To get to the main settings page...

1) Click on your start/programs button on the lower left on your display.

2) To the right, click on Devices and Printers.

3) Find your LP 2844 printer on the pictures.

4) Right click the picture and select "Printing Preferences"

5) The will bring up the menu you are looking for.

6) Select the "Options" tab.

7) Find where it says "Size" and put it 4.00 for width and 6.00 for height.

8) Change Speed to 1.50

9) Change Darkness to 15

This should get you up and running. :)

I got it, just have one more final question..... since I did customize the labels because there is a small sticker before the labels it had to be customized. The bar code is now stretched, since I do not know anything about bar codes, is this a problem for USPS to scan? will there computers recognize if its just a little stretched?

Really, you don't have a "Bar Code Scanner" in your sellers tool box. :)

Actually, I don't think it will be a problem. But for your peace of mind, I would go to the Post Office and have them scan a couple of your packages.

Helpful Hint: Get yourself a Bar Code Scanner, makes doing listings immensely easier and they are only about $50 on eBay. :thumb:

Thnx for the advice, all my items are from china and they are non branded..... so for now it wont be any use to me.... Thank you though

The zebra lp 2844 .....No wifi cable..... is there anyway to go around that? I mean cant I just connect it to the wifi router? There is a usb port on the wifi router that i connected it to and the modem also has the printer port (sorry don't know what its called) but I don't have a wire that has both ends of the printer port.

Sounds like you need a Wireless Print Server.

What is a wireless print server?

A wireless print server is a dedicated server that connects a printer to a wired or wireless network and enables users to print wirelessly from portable devices such as laptops, PDAs, mobile/cellular phones and digital cameras, as well as traditional PCs. Communications for wireless printing uses radio technology such as Bluetooth™ or IEEE 802.11b WLAN technology. This means there is no need for cables, connectors or other complicated networking hardware.

Geez, I can't even get the drivers loaded on my LP2844. Looks like I'm going to hire a tech to come in a do it for me.

yea these are known to be a headache to install, if it doesn't work, uninstall all software/drivers that you installed and start over. it will work eventually

I did a little research on my router and found out that it also is a wireless printer server as well, the same way I would connect the wireless printer server to the printer I have connected it with a USB to my router.

I still can't seem to get it work, Belkin Play N600 Wireless Dual-Band N+ Router | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

I'm using Firefox. Admittedly, I'm not the most tech savvy guy in town.:smash:

AllAboutStealth 11-10-2012 04:12 AM

To who ever it may concern I fixed the problem, contacted belkin support through email they sent me the software that I should have installed the disk but never did. Once it was installed it automatically found the printer and downloaded the necessary drivers and its up and running, just need to install the software of belkin on any computer that I want the printer to be used on. So happy made my life a lot easier :)

My printer was manufactured in 2003 so apparently my computer doesn't recognize new hardware when I initially plug it in. I'm contemplating buying a brand new 2012, and I should be able to just plug it in, my computer will recognize it, automatically download the correct drivers, and all I'll need to do is configure it?? Or am I being overly optimistic? There is a seller that has these brand new for $220 shipped.

GreenBean 11-10-2012 05:40 AM

These used ones sometimes have drivers that are incompatible.... that's broadly speaking.

Newer ones, out of the box, plug in....follow the prompts....

labels coming up:dance:

moneyhustler88 11-12-2012 09:25 AM

check the compatability maybe a issue

sorry but it is a little too optimistic. these zebra printers can be a little of a headache to install at first, but once they are up and running you will usually not have a problem. don't waste your money on a new one (if the old one is still working), PM me if you need help with the old one.

AllAboutStealth 11-26-2012 06:54 AM

lol amazon is set up everything is perfect, now I have to get my ebay account to print the labels the right way and no matter what I do I cant seem to fix it..... Its always printing it out sideways and small, an idea what im doing wrong guys?

you are on landscape mode then.

No, that wasn't the problem, seemed like ebay had some sort of bug or something a few updates and it started working a week or more ago I believe.

AllAboutStealth 12-08-2012 12:50 PM

Everything is set the way I want it except for 2 things.

A little over 50 sales on amazon and another 50 and over sales on ebay....

one computer for amazon other computer for ebay. Every time i switch computers I have to get permission from other computer to use printer which I think is stupid because I have to wait for 20 secs till it gets approved automatically, while my package slip printer just starts working right away.

Another thing that annoys me is that you can not (maybe there's a way I don't know how) print the labels on amazon the way you do on ebay... you have to buy shipping label individually click next about 100x and then click print label. Is there a way around this other then subscribing to stamps.com?
