Default Information needed on how to take good Photos.

Hi there,

I'm trying to make some photos of items I have for sale but because they're glossy and shiny, they always come out crap.I've done a search on the net but all the solutions involve buying expensive equipment like lighting and tents etc.I've got a good camera (Olympus SP-810UZ) and can normally take good shots but I'm just trying to get a good shot without reflections.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers Vinny

Invest in this book

eBay Business All-in-One For Dummies, 2nd Edition:Book Information - For Dummies

Interesting chapters on how do coins & jewelry (silver).

Are you using the camera on manual settings?
Aim to use ambient/natural lighting. You can make your own 'tents' for very low costings.

I agree with Green Bean. Ideally I like to take my pics outside on a lightly cloudy day.

Natural light is always the best avoid using flash on your camera it can produce a washed out look which you don't need

I recommend you to purchase a tent from ebay which is not expensive at all

PRO 80CM SOFT LIGHT PHOTO STUDIO TENT LIGHTING KIT SOFTBOX +4 BACKDROP CAMERA | eBay

You can also buy daylight photography bulbs and a good camera with macro lens is best suited for taking close up pics

Having all this and your sales will increase

Thanks for the reply guys.I'll invest in a tent then.I've tried taking photos outside but because I have to take the photo from above,it still reflects on all sides.I think there's a camera shop close to where I'm living.I'll take a stroll down there and see if they have a tent.

Cheers Vinny
