They are doing an entire revamp of their plans and devices. They will be removing subsidies on all devices next year. You pay full price or bring your own and then you get a super cheap plan. It's awesome that someone is finally going to test this out. Too bad people in America are idiots and don't realize the benefits. They think getting an iPhone 5 for $200 is a sweet deal. That's all they see, completely oblivious to the $125+ per month you pay for the next 2 years.

Prepaid is gaining popularity, but it will still take decades for dumbas*es to wake up.

To be fair $30 a month isn't that amazing..in the UK for £11 a month I get 1000 unlimited mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and Blackberry Services..

The UK is not the USA. Two completely different countries and two completely different strategies. This why I said people here only see what's in front of their face and it has been that way for years while the rest of the world drives in a completely opposite direction.

We are the number one smartphone market in the world, which actually makes us look even worse because so many people piss money away without even understanding what they are doing.

To be fair though, the UK just got an LTE infrastructure up and it's a spotty one at that. Meanwhile, we've had it for a long time already and LTE-Advanced is already being tested. Either way, data is the future. No one cares about voice or minutes. Everything will be over IP and unlimited eventually.

Our biggest networks, Verizon and AT&T, are our worst enemy. They are relentlessly trying to duopolize the entire market which would be extremely dangerous for price control and innovation here.

Honestly, I thought Blackberry phones went out of style a long time ago :cool:

In 2013 we will have octa-core phones, as early as next May, so to be able to use 4g + octa core phones on a cheap prepaid plan sounds good In my book.
