God I would hate paying for gas on those. 9 times out of 10 I see people driving large jeeps, hummers, oversized trucks, escalades alone. Makes no sense other to make yourself feel like you are big and in charge on the road.

I know someone that wanted to buy a chevy volt, but I convinced them to lease it. They liked it for a while, but at the 6th month point they realized they wouldnt want to personally own it. You should give the lease a try with the option to buy.

Buy a used Prius, and convert the batteries to lithium ion. I bought my some months ago and can go 10-12 miles on pure electric mode upto 72mph. The place where I did it has an option of going upto 70 miles on EV mode with full plug in and everything. I think that option lets you go upto 82mph.

I didnt get the plug in and/or larger battery option since it adds so much extra weight but you can buy rear springs that will support all that extra weight to the Prius. I love it, I dont need a small truck or SUV to carry all of the packages to the post office. At first I didnt like the shape of the vehicle but after awhile it grows on you.

Ah yes you are right. It used to be £4 last year but then the cost of each bus journey went up to £1.35 from £1.30, and it used to be so that on your fourth journey they would take 10p more to get you to the £4 cap. Now they make you pay 15p more on your fourth journey... to get to the new £4.20 cap.
