All we have in the house now are Apple products. iMac, 2 macbook pro's, each have an iPad and iPhone and and a Apple TV. I will never buy another Windows machine again. I work in IT and all we have are Windows machines at work so I know the in's and out's of both and I would choose Mac all day any day.
If I were you, I'd buy a used Macbook Pro or even a Macbook Pro WITHOUT the retina display because you can get it way cheaper (13" for under a grand) and for what you'd be using it for you wouldn't even notice a difference.
You can run boot camp which allows you the option of either booting into OSX or Windows. Normally when I use something and it works, I like to stick with it...but in this case, I couldn't be happier with making the switch.
