Default Who is using a eReader? I'm L@@king for some recommendations...

I never thought I would ever want or need an eReader, but I find myself reading more and more as I get older.

I have been researching the last few days as I always do before I buy a new toy.

Anyway, curious if anyone here is using one, and their thoughts and opinions about their device.

So far my 1st choice is the Aluratek AEBK07FS which has a color 7" screen and can play movies and only costs $75.

Birds of a feather.

Just been googling to get one too for my Mom.

Senior Friendly Guide to E-Readers

I'm interested as well. I would be looking for larger print. Remote chance I might use it during my nightshift when in the auto.(Light/vision would be crucial).

As you know, I love Tarot. A bigger screen would display cards better.

Great timing for a thread

I want one too!!

I think which one you want depends on where you plan to be reading and how often.

I have only got experience of two and i know which one I want:

I have used my other halfs ipad for reading and it is pretty decent - especially because you can read at night without any extra peripherals to light it up. However it gets heavy after a while and is not so comfortable with one hand. Oh and the battery life is not that good.

Kindle on the other hand is awesome. My Mum has one and loves it. I have used a friends Kindle Keyboard and it is really nice. It is light to hold, the battery lasts for weeks (!) which is great for holidays.

We took the ipad on holiday and it is a bit of a pain having to remember to always put it on charge, also it certainly makes you bag feel a lot heavier especially once you have been out for a while.

The kindles can be pretty cheap - I am very tempted to get one. The only thing putting me off is that there are no service centres in China if it breaks. You on the other hand don't have that problem!

Well, I went ahead and bought the Aluratek Libre AEBK07FS today from Newegg.

It's the same one as the picture above. Should be here on Thursday.

Here is a YouTube video that goes through all the features on this one.

TGMT, it was only 75? That's cool that it can play movies - does it have USB port? Don't think I can find this in Canada but am looking. Folx I know use Kindle and Kobo but not colour screen.

Actually I paid $64.99, but that was for a new (open box) unit since the new sealed ones were sold out.

I was hoping I could try this one out, then buy a 2nd one if I liked it...But that is not possible now since all the Readers (this model) are sold-out since this morning.

And yes, it is USB. Which is Perfect because I will be flipping my books from my computer to the eReader.

That's £50 or thereabouts! That is so cheap!

When you have played with it a bit can you let us know what the battery life is like on it please?

You have made it sound very tempting!
