Anyone familiar with windows 8? Help?!

I just got a new computer which has windows 8, i have about 5 windows accounts made on it right now.
When i try to make another it doesnt ask me all the questions, like password, and when i try and log in it asks me a password and says i need to go to windowslive.com... Why???
Can i not have more than 5 windows?

Artann 01-03-2013 04:57 PM

go back to 7. Windows 8 only good touch screen and not so much for the rest.
but sorry don't have an answer to your question. Do you provide an email address when you register a new user? I know windows 8 asks for one and that is how it identifies you. maybe the password for the email?

Yeah Windows 8 doesnt look that straight forward for stealth at a first glance...

I'm sure their are workarounds though!

Got a couple new ones myself with this stupid Windows 8 on it.

Found a way around it.

Choose one account as administrator and password.

Go to desktop. It will be in lower left hand corner of the apps section.

Go to Control Panel on your desktop.

Add new user

Add name of user

At the bottom is says continue without microsoft account, create local account.

Put name in, do not add password, leave blank.

Click through until you get to your apps and click desktop in lower left corner.

Microsoft is forcing us to have and add these live accounts but you dont need it and can bypass it.

Good luck.

Avoid anything of Gates if possible.

Be really careful of 'new'. Ensure you do not change procedures. Watch for bugs.

Will sticky the thread for all info regarding this.

I agree, they are sucking every bit of info they can from us just like google.

Yep that's right windows 8 is not for stealth:)

Stick with windows 7 or xp i like them both:)

Imakemoney 01-03-2013 05:46 PM

Hopefully cookies arent shared between the users too....

From the 5 minutes I spent on my girlfriends laptop with Windows 8 I wasnt relishing the thought of upgrading.

Windows 7 for a while me thinks....

With Windows 7 Pro and higher versions you can install XP on a virtual desktop or virtual machine. If your OS is legit you can download the XP software directly from Mr. Soft's website for free. Boom, 2 OS's within 1.

If they were I would have a ton of toasted accounts as I have used it for a while now.

So far, all good.

Thanks for the comments!
I had to youtube a few things just to figure out how to work it! :x
Its definitely more work for stealth even to just open another user account.
Why do you guys think its harder to get rid of cookies on windows 8?
I still use CCleaner and clean out cookies/cache every time I log into a diff, just to be safe!

Sandy D 01-14-2013 08:15 AM

So far not a problem with the pita windows 8, after you get through the windows trying to force you took hook up all those hotmail account you are good to go.

By pass that crap by using local only.

Then the apps, they are driving me nuts as well. Stating to dump them as fast as I have time.

arpichelago 01-18-2013 07:36 PM

Lol. Funny to see that they integrated that little feature but as far as the worries and extra precautions? Yeah, nah i dont think microsoft is going to actually do any teaming up with Ebay, or generally any extra looking over our shoulders... windows 8 will be on all new machines so be prepared for it.

Reformatting to win7 or running a virtual machine is... a really serious workaround for something not so serious. :p I assumed there would be a much simpler workaround before I read it further down in the thread.

Possibly NeedHelp has read the thread, done some experiments and came to that decison

rsot 01-20-2013 02:04 AM

Quite possible - guess I will take it to PMs - experienced insight is always good

GreenBean 01-20-2013 02:06 AM

Oh, then you could come back and report your findings?

that would work well....

I can see the thread title now.............

rsot leaves FireFox finally, confessions of a faithful follower

Windows 8 is almost the same windows 7 except Metro Start Menu.
If you don't hit "Windows" button and go to desktop mode, there is no difference between 7 and 8.
For me, I use VM (VMware) for each account, so I use my accounts as long as I can install VMware to run my VMs. My tiny laptop run Core i7 and has 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, so VMs XP won't be a problem.

Sandy D 01-22-2013 09:48 PM

If I can figure it out being very non techy anyone can.

Working fine once I figured out how to stop Gates world from forcing me to sign into every user account.

Yes it will slow you down a lot. I had to remove a few from a piece of crap Toshiba laptop as it really slowed it down once I got to a certain number.

I cant remember exactly but I think its over 30 on one and closer to 40 maybe.

I have a string of laptops and a few towers in an bedroom office.
