For many of us it represents a large portion of our income, so we better take it seriously.

Here's the thing.

It may be a large portion of our income, but it's pointless if we forget a little humor to do this type of business.

The dollar I lose to day is the schekel I make tomorrow.

So long as I am trading, I am almost always making money.

O minutes listing, and 8-14 hours packaging, answering email, buying, etc.

Some people would not believe that I have spent 20 straight hours doing buying, packing, listing, emailing etc in the middle of being a Mom and wife.

And have done it many days over the last several years.

Remember several days on flea market day not going to bed at all Sunday night, get kids breakfast and off to school and head to my fav flea market.

Sure I take my days off to hit the beach, amusement park etc but right back at it.

The pit in my stomach keeps me going like the energizer bunny!

Hit a couple thrift stores today and found some awesome finds, working on pictures right now. Cant wait to see the items sold by morning.

You make many valid points. However, can't you agree that your "business" was at one point of time a "job" because until you were able to outsource work, you had to run it and give it full attention?

I spend less than 30 minutes per day, I have over 100 accounts I've sold on but am currently only selling on 10 and only focus on products that have 500-1000% margins.

I sell the same item on each account so listing is already made, so here's my days work:

Login to ebay, hit the relist button, answer a couple Q's if any.

Login to paypal, print shipping label, transfer funds to bank.

Rinse and repeat.

Also I have all my items prepacked so it's just a matter of slapping the label's on and dropping them in a bag by the door, which takes a few minutes.

So I've got more than enough time to finish my MBA (full time) and then some, so it's really a sweet thing, it really is =]

Congrats on working on your MBA. Extremely important to finish it.

Do the same thing as you mastaflappa, really helps to sell the same items all the time

If you're making good money then that's what I'm talking about.

In fact, you could outsource this work if you wanted to. However, most people can handle 30 minutes per day.

Working Smart vs Working Hard ;)

Approximately 3hrs. a week.

Prolly avg around 20 hrs/wk - btween thanksgiving and xmas 60 hrs/wk. :faint:

I could make 3x what I do now going back to being a cubicle monkey at some corp. However I love the freedom with an online sales gig and the fact I can be home to watch my daughter grow up is a priceless bonus.

I used to get anywhere from 30 to 80 items sold every day and sometimes more depending on on my listing styles like "Buy it Now" or just many auctions or the combination of both per day. Between answering emails, packaging and printing shipping labels, well, on a good day at least 6 to 9 hours per day of sitting on my ass just preparing orders than taking them to the local USPS facility... How I miss those days....

So what changed? :noidea:

maybe a total of 5 hours... I do take my time though. I'm slowly ramping up more vol each week hoping to take this on full time.


It started out as just some side money here and there and I kept poking and testing things an then one just kinda took off... and the more i push the more I get back so IM HOOKED.

its fun, vs my normal job its so much less stress so i hope to replace it ASAP. c'mon $$$$$$ get there!

Definetly good money, of course that's a matter of personel preference but to me having the ability to make 1k in a day for 30 minutes worth of work is good money ;)

I earn $6 dollars a month on Ebay and I put in 11 hours a day. 3 hours for shipping and packaging. I spend the other 8 hours researching for shi* that people will buy because they obviously dont want what im selling :mad2:

Why is that a problem? Im moving slowly. I sell penny items. Maybe next month I will sell dime items, then next month quarter items. If I work harder and put in more time....Maybe work 27 hours a day then just maybe....just maybe...I will sell dollar items and be able to buy the mansion big house of my dreams.....
