Default Do you think a Toyota Prius is a bad anniversary present?

Are there any Prius owners out there? I am thinking about buying my wife a 2013 Toyota Prius fully loaded. Do you like your Prius? Would you recommend it? Do you think it would be a good anniversary present?

And recommendations on other Makes/Models in the $25 to $35 grand range?

"Honey, we've been together for so long. As a token of my love and devotion to you, I present you this Prius. Now, you will be uncomfortable as hell and unable to merge safely on the highway. I love you."

Nothing like that look you will get that seems to say "Really, you couldn't get me a Corvette??"

So many factors go into this. What does your wife like? What does your wife need? What is practical for your lifestyle. Personally I think things you use on a daily basis should be in most cases quality and nice items. For example, house, car, bed, tv, and even down to a nice toothbrush. Diamond earnings or necklaces are something I see as a joke. They do not serve a purpose in my mind. You see all the "ballers" have many frugal items and in a few years they are auctioning them off to save their house.

With that being said lol, I think a car is an excellent choice, assuming you will be with her for life. The next question will come to what type of car do you want. Looks, Performance, or Mix Qualities, then the decision is up to you given your financial situation. My wife loves the looks of of certain cars, but with that being said she doesnt give two sh!ts what she drives, and when I talk about cars she ignores me, which is why she drives a fuel efficient car. I am done babbling, but maybe you should say "you" want to buy a new car and ask her questions which would lead you to the car you think she likes.

Ha! You never know what's on a womans mind. You can ASSume all you want. The divorce rate today is near 60%, not good stats.

"I love you, but I'm not in love with you" seems to be a common phrase in todays society.

I would accept that.

Is it as eco-friendly as the Prius though?

I love my 2010 Prius, the 2nd best car I have ever driven, 1st is a 2008 BMW M3. I bought it for the gas mileage and the fact of the car being a hatch back with lots of space or packages or all shapes/sizes and amounts.

Yes, I am a man driving a Prius, who cares. The car is a bit on the slow side getting upto speed but not that slow. If you want a corvette, buy a corvette. I have always been a safe driver who drives the speed limit. I always drive upto Salt Lake City, with speed limits of 80 in some parts and 75mph for the rest, I always drive 75mph while other suckers are going over 85. I just let them past driving on the right side of the road.

I am a technology type of guy, so I love that part of the car too. I bought the car with half way upgrades vs the stock Prius. I bought the normal sedan with GPS and JBL upgraded radio system. The car is very quite at low and cruising speeds, but if you want to accelerate upto say, 65, you will hear that small engine become quite noisy. The only part I don't like are the quite un-supportive seats front seats. I wish the seats had more back support.

I live in Las Vegas, NV with the altitude at around 3,000 to 4,000. I get about 52mpg in the city and about 42mpg on the highway going to Salt Lake City driving up and down mountains of over 8,000 feet above sea level. Driving to Florida last month, I was able to get 49mpg in the plain states at 70mph, the speed limits are lower.

Im more of a truck man or old school cars. Those old school cars eat up alot of gasoline but I love them too much to let them go. If u like that type of car then u should buy it. Everybody is different & likes different things.

Wow, my last paragraph was a complete mess. I wrote it half asleep.

I bought it not because of saving the environment and all of that bull stuff, I can care less. Humans will continue to destroy anything it can in order to survive, including each other. I bought it cuz I always hated wasting so much money on gas, something safe, and because my last vehicle was stolen (2005 Honda Civic). I wanted a car that was almost impossible to steal, and this is the car. And plus I have never been into trucks, and like I said, I wanted something safe(r).

I always kinda hated the shape of the vehicle but it really grew on me these few months since I bought it. Its still a funky shape but I dont worry about it anymore. The only way to overcome the funky shape and the quietness at low to medium speeds is not to worry or think about it. If you do, prepare to go completely bat(man) crazy. I got over that part in a few weeks, but anyone who rides in my car for the first time or first time in a Prius always asks if the car is OK cuz the engine is off at low speeds.

My mom refuses to ride in it since she cant hear the egine running or every once in awhile ask me if the car is broken. She prefers to take her car when ever we go anywhere, I just agree it to and go in her car, she drives and I'm in the passenger seat. I'm happy sitting in the passenger seat watching other cars pass my slow driving mom at 40mpg in a 45mph speed limit area. hahahaha, she is something.
